We need your support — and we don’t ask lightly.

Like everyone else, we are living through relentless price rises. Food. Energy. Insurance. Supplies. Everything is going up — and it hurts.

As a business, we’re hit from both sides. Our costs continue to rise, while we are always conscious that your costs are rising too. That’s why we have worked hard not to increase our prices disproportionately, absorbing some of those costs ourselves to remain fair and accessible. We’ve done this for years — because without our guests, we simply don’t have a business. It really is that simple.

But now we are facing something entirely different. A 177% increase in our business rates.

Let us ask you this honestly: Have you recently received a bill that is 177% higher than before?

That is the scale of increase being proposed for us.

This isn’t about normal inflation or gradual increases. This is the result of a deeply flawed system. In the self-catering sector, business rates are currently being calculated using a methodology that is inaccurate, unrepresentative, and completely disconnected from reality. It does not reflect how businesses like ours actually operate.

The impact of this, if allowed to proceed, will be devastating — not just for us, but for rural tourism businesses across Scotland.

We’ve set this out clearly in an email sent today to our MSPs, local councillors and others (a short extract is attached). But we cannot do this alone.

We need voices. Yours included.

Whether you live in Scotland or elsewhere in the UK, please consider supporting this campaign. The more people who speak up, the harder it is for this to be ignored.

🚨 Visitor Levy = Tourist Tax 🚨

Let’s be crystal clear: this isn’t just about international visitors. You, your family, your friends - every Scot taking a break in their own country will also pay this tax.

At a time when our tourism businesses are already fighting for survival, this is the wrong tax at the wrong time.

Hurrah, Schools out ! Coming to us over the next 3 weeks ? We would normally advise you to pop along to Logie Steading & Estate anyhow, especially if you love a good coffee and a slice of cake, but they have a summer quest for little people (and not so little) between 28th June and 17th of July, surely worth a visit... https://logie.co.uk/28-june-17th-july-logie-steading-summer-quest/
