What a great day to be out in the mountains. We had a great adventure walking round and under the magnificent cliffs of Ben Nevis' North face before we carried on to a busy summit.

More fresh snow fell on the West Highlands yesterday and the hills looked very white down to about 600m this morning. Gillian and I were out with a small group of Students from the School of Adventure Studies UHI and we headed up Ledge route on Ben Nevis. There has been some consolidation of snow lower down but it is mostly still just fresh snow sat on top of scree and boulders at the moment.

We used crampons to climb the slab out of Number 5 gully today but managed very easily without them for the rest of the day. It was a little slower going higher up with a lot of snow needed to be cleared but nothing too hard.

We headed over to the summit so Mac and Ally could summit for the first time and then made very quick progress down a well tracked mountain path.

A big well done to Tara today for reaching the summit of Ben Nevis, on what turned out to be a very miserable day.

A big well done to Luke today who made it to the top of Ben Nevis. He came back fighting strong today after having to call it quits half way up yesterday due to illness. A misty day but the clouds cleared just as we arrived at the summit.
