Kingairloch Estate Cosy self-catering, pet friendly cottages in the Highlands. Open all year round. The holiday cottages are all unique, stand alone and have stunning views.

A number have loch views and all have mountainous vistas. Each of the 10 properties are open throughout the whole year with weekly stays and short breaks offered, pets are also welcome. The estate is home to a diverse range of wildlife from red deer, pine martins, otters, eagles, seals and much more. Guests often have sightings of these species from the comfort of their holiday cottage or when out exploring the estate on the series of purpose built footpaths.

The bees have certainly been busy in the walled garden this summer, making the most of everything that’s been in flower.

As well as producing our honey, they play an important part in the garden, pollinating the fruit, vegetables and flowers as they go. They may be small but are an incredibly important part of the walled garden ecosystem, working quietly alongside us and playing their part in everything we harvest.

After a busy summer, we’re now enjoying the results with our own Kingairloch honey.

We’ll have a limited number of jars available to buy from the Boathouse later this week 🍯🐝

Today is Scottish Venison Day, an opportunity to highlight the quality and provenance of venison across Scotland.

At Kingairloch, careful deer management is an important part of caring for the Estate. Our approach focuses on maintaining a healthy and sustainable deer herd while supporting the health and balance of the wider landscape.

This provides us with high quality wild venison: a naturally lean and nutritious meat from the hills that surround us. We take great pride in serving Kingairloch venison at The Boathouse Restaurant, bringing produce from the Estate’s hills directly to the plate.

To mark Scottish Venison Day, our chef George has Kingairloch venison loin on the menu tonight, served with fondant potato, vegetables from the Kingairloch Walled Garden and a red wine jus.

A true taste of Kingairloch, and a fitting way to celebrate Scottish Venison Day. 🦌

Kingairloch is home to an incredible variety of smaller wildlife too 🦋✨

Throughout the summer, butterflies and moths can be spotted among the wildflowers, grasses and woodland, while dragonflies dart across the estate’s lochs and wetter areas. From the colourful flashes of wings in the sunshine to the quieter creatures hiding amongst the vegetation, there is always something to look out for.

Our varied landscape provides a wonderful habitat for so many species, making every walk around Kingairloch an opportunity to discover something new. 🌿🦋

There’s more than one way to enjoy the hills at Kingairloch. ⛰️

For some, it’s the challenge of a long day on the hill, reaching a summit and taking in the views from above. For others, it’s a gentle walk through the glens, a quiet morning with the dogs, or simply finding a spot to sit and take it all in.

You can explore on foot, head out stalking, spend time photographing the wildlife and changing seasons, or follow the paths at your own pace with nowhere else to be.

However you choose to experience them, the hills are always changing — and there’s always another reason to head out. 🌿🏔️
