As Mòd Ghlaschu 2026 kicks off today we reflect on Mòd Loch Abar 2025
The atmosphere in and around Fort William was incredible, the organisation of the whole event was second to none, and the driver of the MacBraynes shuttle bus was just the icing on the cake!
We are of course talking about our very own co-founder and owner Donnie MacGillivray who was delighted to receive the Friends of the Mòd honour in recognition of his significant contribution to the Gaelic language. He is a long-time supporter of the Mòd and has actively been involved in helping transport competitors, performers and audiences alike around the festival via a special shuttle service at Mòd Loch Abar 2017, Mòd Òbain 2024 and Mòd Loch Abar 2025. The latter two in his lovingly restored MacBraynes Bus.
Other highlights of the Mòd last year were the Torchlight Parade, the live music, all the visitors young and old, Lochaber Gaelic Choir winning the Margrat Duncan Memorial Trophy, Sealladh winning Battle of the Bands, the pride of seeing many pupils that we transport to and from school competing, the mass choirs and the weather!
We wish the best to all the competitors entering Mòd Ghlaschu 2026 and we hope to see the Mòd flag back in Lochaber soon.
