TODAY IS A VERY BIG DAY
It's five years since my last chemo session and so my next appointment with my gynaeoncology Consultant will be my last, as I'm officially all clear of ovarian cancer. It will be with very mixed feelings (I expect a common phenomenon) that I say goodbye to her, as she's been a supportive wonder for all this time.
Pics 2-4 are "on this day five years ago":
β all of this had been protected under an elastic bandage since the preceding February and cared for weekly by the lovely Community Nurses who came to see me at home π‘
β the little orange clip had allowed me to rest assured, waking or sleeping, that I wouldn't accidentally dislodge the line, which extended 46cm from the point where it entered my arm. This was the part that was VERY painful to have removed, as it had grown quite attached to me, literally πͺ
β I was surprised how quickly I got used to knowing that all this was going on inside me, as I'm usually quite squeamish about blood, veins etc.
I am thankful on a daily basis to every person who had even the smallest part in my cancer care, from diagnosis to today, beginning in one of the most challenging times for our NHS ever.
Also to all those in the other specialisms who continue to monitor me for the rest of the BRCA2 family of cancers βοΈ for the rest of my life.
