We will never get enough of how far and wide our guests come from to visit Glasgow with us!

On our tour last week, we had a mix of guests from Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland and the USA! No matter where they visit us from, they are eager to learn about the city in the company of folks who share a passion for travel and genuine human connection.

Big thanks to Stuart for showing them around, we can't wait to welcome more of the world to Glasgow!

Summer in Glasgow has never been so lively, and we have had a busy one filled with tours for our guests taking advantage of the lovely weather!

What better way to take in a little sun than by cycling around (or walking!) and having our friendly guides show you the best parts of Glasgow!

Here's what some of our guests had to say about our tours:

"We loved our trip with Gallus Pedals! Sebastian was a very friendly and knowledgeable guide who showed us around well-known highlights as well as hidden gems (e.g. Govan Church). I would definitely recommend a tour with Gallus Pedals if you are looking for a fun and active way to explore Glasgow."

"Connor was a great guide and made it fun with the stops provided along the way. He had interesting stories and knew a lot about the areas we were going through. Thanks for the snacks at the museum and the time to dry out a bit."

We always appreciate feedback from our guests and knowing what your favourite parts of the tour are!

Let us know if you have any favourite memories from your tour with us! And if you haven't been on one, what are you waiting for? 😉

This week, we are getting to know our tour guide Seb a little better! He's one of our most recent additions to the team but is already an integral part of our team!

Q. Could you introduce yourself for us?
S: My name's Sebastian, but I encourage people to call me Seb, and I'm a natural story teller from Dumfries & Galloway. When I'm not showing tourists around Glasgow - I manage a Dungeon & Dragons event and have written well over 100 short interactive adventures.

Q. What is your favourite part about being a tour guide?
S: I've had the pleasure of showing tourists around Glasgow, Loch Lomond, and Loch Ness via foot, bike, canoe, and even speedboat! Cycling is perfect for Glasgow as it gives you the best freedom in the city, and it keeps you active.
I enjoy meeting guests and getting lost in conversation, we all have more in common than you think.

Q. Which Gallus Pedals tour stop do you find the most interesting?
S: Whilst Govan Old Church is fascinating and evocative, I could personally talk for hours on the Govan foot bridge just before it! I've been ceilidhing on the Glenlee which gives me a great opportunity to get the dance moves out.

Q. What is one place in Glasgow you'd recommend for our guests to visit?
S: I'd be remiss not to invite fellow nerds to play games with me on Monday nights at the Corona in the Southside..
But given that this is my 10th year in Glasgow and I've spent half of that as a bike messenger, there's nothing quite like collecting food and drinks from (shawarma and a 0% ale) and cycling up to one of the fantastic summits to catch the sunset - either Queens Park flagpole or Garnethill viewpoint.

Thanks for your time Seb!

That feeling when you've bagged yourself a bottle of whisky from The Clydeside Distillery after a tour with us 😉

Our bike and distillery tours are ever popular, so why not book one with us to find out why? You can get a locals point-of-view tour of Glasgow, learn about Scotland and Glasgow's whisky history, try some drams and even bag yourself a little souvenir!

Another mural to check out in Glasgow is this one on Mitchell Street! Titled 'Honey I Shrunk the Kids', it was done by the artist Smugone, who has other prolific street art across Glasgow credited to his name.

The mural is located in the city centre, close to another whimsical mural featuring a black cab, and is one to keep an eye out for during your visit to Glasgow!

We stopped by Inn Deep on one of our bike tours last week to take a break in between the tour and soak in the sun while taking in the beautiful sight of the flowing river Kelvin next to us!

With the warm weather we are having in Glasgow lately, this is the perfect time to soak in some sun while catching up with friends over a drink or some of the pubs excellent food! They also have events such a quizzes and open nights running through the week, so make sure to check them out.

Our guests had a lovely time stopping here, and we'll be sure to bring future guests back here!

Big thank you to the brilliant team at The Govan Stones — you always make our guests feel so welcome and keep doing the great work you do!

The Govan Stones is now easily one of our favourite places to take guests - thanks to the new bridge that opened last year.

Not many stops on any tour manage to pack in 1500 years of history from early Christian burial grounds, Vikings, World War II bombing raids, shipbuilding and industrial heritage, Alex Ferguson and a shout out to our favourite dentist residing in a fine piece of Victorian architecture - and a brilliant example of old Govan (well, not that old compared to what it’s sitting next to… but you get what we mean 😉).

And the truth is - most Glaswegians have yet to really explore this place. That’s why we’re always trying to make tourists feel like locals, and locals feel like tourists.

Today, we're interviewing another one of our tour guides Conor, for some tips for things to do and see in Glasgow! He's been with us for a few years now and had led many a bike tours, receiving rave reviews from our guests! ⭐

Q. Could you introduce yourself for us?

I'm Conor. I moved from Belfast to Glasgow for a BA in Acting at the Conservatoire. I work as an actor through the year, mainly in theatre. I love finding new spots to cycle around in Glasgow, trying to make a "mental map" of the city. I love playing cello with a local orchestra and catching a movie in the cinema. Hot chocolate and milkshakes are the go-to treats.

Q. What's your favourite part abut being a tour guide for Gallus Pedals?

I love discovering the history of the city -seeing how people and place are connected, and sharing these stories and info with guests from all over the world!

Q. Which bike or walking tour stop is your favourite?

My favourite stop on the Gallus Pedal Tour is the University of Glasgow. It is a magical building with an incredible view! Tour groups always get excited to explore the quad when we can.

Q. Any places you would recommend for our guests to visit during their time in Glasgow?

How to pick one? The Britannia Panopticon Music Hall is an exciting glimpse at an old variety theatre and something different. I also love the stained glass displays at both Kelvingrove Museum and Burrell Collection. The glass can be found in plenty of pretty churches in the city too of course! Queen's Park has lots of cool cafés, bakeries and pubs nearby and a great view of the city from the flagpole, if you needed an escape from the city centre.

Thanks Conor!!

We stopped by the newly launched The Rail Yard in Glasgow's West End to pick up a little treat for our guests on tour last week, and what a treat they had in store for us!

With a range of small businesses operating here and their produce, there's something here for everyone. We stopped by Uplands Roast's van for a little pick-me-up, with many options for specialty coffee's or their signature hot chocolate!

Come rain or shine, the Rail Yard will be operating throughout the week from 8am-7pm, so don't forget to check it out!

Another mural to check out in Glasgow is this floating taxi!

Featuring the iconic black cabs around the city, this mural by artist Rogue-One is a bright addition to this street corner and evokes a fun, whimsical take on the taxi experience.

The mural can be found on Mitchell Street, near the Glasgow Central station.
