A baltic run to kick off Nick’s 24 hours in Glasgow 🥶

With just a morning to explore and get an overview of the city, we wrapped as much as we could into one bright and frosty 8k tour - still smiling despite the cold!🏃‍♂️❄️

Friday facts 🦁🦄 - a wee stop on the Lion & Unicorn staircase at Glasgow Uni, which dates back to 1690 - almost 2 centuries older than the rest of the buildings!

🏰 Glasgow Uni was originally located on High Street (where the current Moxy hotel is)
🍻 It was often known as the ‘Old College’ - this is where the Old College Bar got its name
🌳 As it expanded, they moved west in 1870 to an empty greenfield area on Gilmorehill - now the current campus
🦄 The lion & unicorn staircase was transported and incorporated into the new building
🚗 The original High Street entrance was also moved, and now forms part of Pearce Lodge: at the car park entrance on University Avenue

Only 2 weeks to go until Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival 2025! 🎉

18–21 Sept, it’s a free celebration of the city’s architecture, culture, and heritage, with over 150 events, tours, and buildings to explore.

We’re taking part with two special midweek Aye Run tours, inspired by this year’s theme The Visionary City. Each run will be an easy 7–8km over 90 mins, with the route and sights themed on the people and ideas that have shaped the city’s past, present, and future.
