πŸ“½πŸ‘£πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈπŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ Video 2 of last weekend's 8 hour Walking4Warriors challenge adventure along part of the 215 mile cross-Scotland Southern Upland Way! After walking out from Balmurrie Farm, then up and down across windswept, lonely moors, past the neolithic tumbled-stone remnants of the large burial chamber know as Carn na Gath (Cairn of the Cat) and then picking our way through the wet bogs in the middle of Kilgallioch Forest, we reached a favourite spot to rest at Purgatory Burn. In medieval times, lepers would make their final journey across the burn to spend their final days further a few miles on at the Wells of The Rees. This was named Purgatory as the lepers were never allowed to return once they'd crossed over the burn.

After 5 hours of dog walking, hiking and kist refilling out on the Southern Upland Way on Friday, we gave ourselves (ANZAC Day) Saturday off before setting off today on our 6 hour Walking4Warriors challenge in support of veterans and first responders. 6 hours from Balmurrie out to the Beehive Bothy on the Southern Upland Way turned into 8 hours on the end as we had to do some tree fall and forestry clearing brash from the trail along the way. We didn't see another soul all day once we set out across the moors, sphagnum bog, forest trails, wooden footbridges and grassy knolls.

I think everything below our waists hurts right now, but here's us setting off this morning with fresh legs and determination. More vids and photos to follow.

Now, where did we put the ibuprofen... πŸ˜œπŸ˜†

We first discovered this very special wee building in 2021 and have since then have spent some lovely peaceful nights staying over out here on our own under the stars. There is usually a wee resident mouse aboot, but we didn't hear him/her while we were there that day. Join Leah Jett as she takes you for a wee keek inside this unique home away from home for walkers πŸ˜€πŸ‘€

πŸ˜€πŸŒ²πŸ’ͺ✌A week ago today we were out Walking4Warriors on the Southern Upland Way and had finally reached the Beehive Bothy so we could enjoy a rather late lunch. To say we were hungry by now was an understatement! 🀩 The reward after the sacrifice of endurance and self belief, in support of the ethos of our veterans and first responders throughout history. 😳🌲Two hours into our Walking4Warriors challenge on Easter Saturday, we had to switch to Southern Upland Way volunteer ranger mode and spend the next 90 minutes handcutting back as much of the Storm Eowyn winter stormfall blocking the Way as possible. These conifers are incredibly dense, sappy and spiky so it was an extra challenge definitely added in to our big day out! We were very pleased to create easier access for other walkers who will be following in our footsteps. Still a bit of a commando course, but much better than being almost impossible to get through!

🐝🌿 Next stop of the day - the Beehive Bothy! We were a little late for our lunch stop and pretty hungry by 2.30pm 😁
