MISSION IMPOSSIBLE : THE FINAL RECKONING
After almost a month exploring Nepal, our clients have chosen to spend their final night at the internationally renowned Dwarika's Sanctuary near Dhulikhel in the Kathmandu Valley.

This most luxurious resort affords sumptuous suite rooms, a range of Himalayan wellness pamperings, spanking views of the Himalayas, yoga and meditation, ayurvedic treatments, fresh "home grown" organic produce and oozes mellowisity.

We'd be the first to agree that our clients have earned some deluxe chillaxation.

They've explored chaotic Kathmandu, trekked the mighty Manaslu Circuit, discovered the delights of rural Nepal in Bandipur and Nuwakot, travelled to the far west in search of wildlife in Bardia National Park, immersed themselves in Tibetan Buddhism at Neydo Monastery, hiked in the Kathmandu Valley and made many new friends along the way with the people of Nepal. This "Mission Impossible" became "Mission Very Possible" and hand-crafted to perfection by Snow Cat Travel.

The biggest challenge seems to be that our clinets don't want to get on the plane and fly back home 😉

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: VALLEY RECKONING
Feeling both energised and spiritualised our clients Nepal exploration continues as they head deeper into the rurality of the often overlooked Kathmandu Valley. By far the best way to discover the "treasures of the Kathmandu Valley" is on foot. In this instance our clients will enjoy a bucolic two day "slow hike" from Panauti to Namobuddha via Balthali.

Rural Panauti, with its ornate temples, dates back to the 14th Century and Namobuddha is one of the most sacred Buddhist pilgrimage sites in Nepal.

PANAUTI is a real treasure trove of Newari art and architecture Panauti has one of the only two known pre-Malla structures, the Indreshwar Temple, reputed to be the oldest in Nepal, as well as many more ornate and fascinating temples and shrines. Exquisite wood-carved roof structures just seem to be everywhere. There's also a small cremation ghat where the Pungmati and Roshi rivers merge. As you wander around this charming town, you'll discover brick-paved streets, intricately carved resthouses, stupas, and stone water taps. Traditional goldsmiths and silversmiths may also be seen at work. But Panauti is also a farming town and is surrounded by terraced fields and orchards, giving a great insight into agricultural practices where mechanisation has had little impact.

According to legend, Buddha sacrificed his body at Namobuddha to let a starving tigress feed her cubs here, and Namobuddha (Hail to the Buddha) has since been a sacred site for pilgrims for centuries. A giant prayer wheel can be seen by the main stupa, and the colourful prayer flags that abound here all add to the serenity. There are pretty good views of the Himalayas too. A visit to the Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery is a must. Home to around 250 monks, this beautifully decorated Tibetan Buddhist Monastery in the Karma Kagyu tradition is a haven of peace and tranquilly. You don't need to be spiritual to appreciate just how special Namobuddha is. But pretty much all people who come here "feel" something.

After this our clients have just one night left in Nepal, so what will they do for their final reckoning?

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: BUDDHIST PROTOCOL
After returning from Bardia National Park our clients want to avoid "The Big Doo", so they're now heading to the peace and tranquility of Neydo Monastery.
A "spiritual retreat", the Neydo Tashi Choeling Monastery enjoys a serene location in the rural Kathmandu Valley by Hattiban Forest.
Here you can effortlessly blend in and observe prayer rituals as well as feel part of monastic life.

There's a cosy guest house next to the monastery and nearby is the Asura Cave, where Padmasambhava, or Guru Rinpoche, meditated and achieved the highest realisation. There are also several nature walking possibilities in the Hattiban Forest, ranging from a full-day hike to easy, short walks.

Dakshinkali Temple is located about one kilometre outside Pharping. It is one of several “power places” in the Kathmandu Valley and one of the most important temples in Nepal dedicated to the goddess Kali.

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: WILDLIFE NATION
After an overnight in Kathmandu, our clients continue their "Mission Very Possible", by taking a short flight to the border town of Nepalgunj in the west of Nepal. From here it's about 90 mins by jeep to the highly renowned Bardia National Park. Much favoured by wildlife enthusiasts over Chitwan.

Bardia National Park is the largest National Park in the entire Terai region of Nepal and is indeed also home to the Bengal Tiger. Many agree that you have a better chance of seeing tigers in Bardia than in Chitwan. With the creation of the 'next door' Banke National Park, combined with Bardia this is now the largest tiger conservation area in Asia. Bardia is also home to the Asian elephant, the one-horned rhino, the leopard, and over 300 species of birds.

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 4 & A BIT: Kathmandu (again)
Leaving the delights of Nuawkot behind our clients next destination willl be Bardia National Park. So, an overnight in Kathmandu is required before they take their flight to the far west the next morning. But, for a bit of peace and quiet our clients are spending a night at the 4* Hotel Manaslu (well, they did just trek the Manaslu Circuit) in the less crazy Lazimpat area of Kathmandu.

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 4 : RELAXATION
Our clients epic Nepal adventure continues as they journey from Bandipur to Nuwakot in pursuit of the "real Nepal". Here in Nuwakot you can set your body clock to "slow" and relax in the gardens of The Famous Farm. And when you feel like it just head for a stroll around Nuwakot. The local people are very friendly, so don't be surprised if you find yourself invited into a local home for some tea. Cultural experiences aren't manufactured here in Nuwakot. Just go and explore and let the magic of Nepal find you.

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 3 : Bandipur
After their Manaslu Circuit trek, our clients have chosen 2 nights in the mountain town of Bandipur and at the charmingly rustic The Old Inn. One reason for choosing 2 nights was to allow for some contingency on the trek itself. This is a major benefit when choosing a custom tour as on a challenging Himalayan trek there's always the risk of it not going entirely to plan. So, having 2 nights at Bandipur as contingency is a way of factoring in some "wiggle room" if needed on the trek. If it's not needed, then our clients can relax in Bandipur after their trek, enjoy the views and maybe even take a short hike to the village of Ramkot where some of the last traditional round houses in Nepal still remain.

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 2: The Manaslu Circuit Trek
The next stage of our clients custom Nepal adventure is the superb trek around Manaslu(8163m). It's a very challenging trek for sure and requires crossing the Larkya La (5135m), but this region of Nepal is also a restricted area and that means it's nothing like as busy as the Everest and Annapurna regions. Although there are trekking lodges all along the route nowadays, the Manaslu region has been far less tainted by much of the negative impacts of tourism and remains more authentic and culturally intact. It's also truly spectacular.
