SKIRR Adventures We adventure into remote, high-latitude waters inspired by great, modern-day explorers. Your expedition voyage is divided into five legs.

Join us as Expedition Crew for one or more of five legs onboard 68-foot yachts for an exhilarating voyage skirring the stark rugged coastline, ice-fields and more.... You may choose to do one leg, combine several, or complete all of the five legs in the voyage. The 4,820 nautical mile round trip will take an estimated eight weeks during the height of summer with crew arriving or departing at the c

hangeover ports en route, leaving Gosport on July 1 2022. Adventure sailing is as much about your experience above and below deck as the destinations visited. You will be exploring some of the most remote, pristine waters on the planet, while honing your sailing skills on passage. As a member of the crew team you can also take on a key role such as helping prepare tasty, nutritious and hot meals, as team videographer, or navigating the stars under the magical night sky. Sailing primarily under the power of wind, a truly unstoppable source of energy, the natural world may come strikingly close to your yacht. During each leg, while the yacht is moored, you’ll have the opportunity to explore closer to shore, and the extraordinary ice-scapes of the Icelandic and Greenland coasts. Expect to see Arctic Bowhead Whales, Polar Bears along the East Greenland coast, Arctic Fox, possibly Walrus, Arctic ringed seal of course, fish and birdlife. So have your camera ready. Your expedition guide will es**rt you ashore for day-expeditions onto the otherworldly brutal and beautiful landscapes shaped by the forces of nature. 🌊 1,000 Miles. 100 Days. 60ft Waves.

Ross Edgley is back with his boldest expedition yet: The Great Icelandic Swim, a world-first challenge to swim the entire coastline of Iceland and we are proud to be the official Challenge Support Yacht. ⛵️

As Ross braves Arctic waters and orca territory, our 68-foot expedition yacht will be his floating basecamp. Crewed by professional sailors and equipped for everything Iceland can throw at it. From navigating volatile seas to supporting groundbreaking ocean research, we’re bringing our decades of adventure sailing experience to the mission.

This is more than a swim. It’s a tribute to resilience, ocean science, and the spirit of exploration that define the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race and SKIRR Adventures.

🥾EXPLORE THE PATH LESS TRODDEN 🥾

"On our way to Tasiilaq we passed by a strange site and anchored there over lunch time. It was the Bluie East Two site, a vacated US army air force airbase from the second world war on Ikateq, operational from 1942 to 1947. It is hard to believe that aeroplanes could operate here from the gravel strip, especially outside of the summer. Today all the remains of the operations are still visible, making it a very unique and strange experience."
-- Joerg Schamuhn, Legs 3, 4 and 5, SKIRR 2024

"On leg three our first stop was Grundarfjördur. After a night of sailing in light air we arrived very early morning to the coast. We approached one of the most prominent costal landmarks in this area, the Kirkjufell. It has an elevation of 453m and its slopes to the east. It also contains magnetic material making the magnetic compass very unreliable. It got its name because the shape looks a bit like a big cathedral. It was for the first time on this journey that I was stunned by the beauty of the coast."

“The sunsets in Scotland are like no other. They are incredible. When I talk about this amazing photo of it setting over the marina, it sounds like just another sunset…but it truly is incredible.” - Emily Caruso, SKIRR Skipper

A SKIRR Adventure is one of the best ways to experience the charm of the western coast of Scotland, where you become part of the environment rather than a visitor to it.
