A highlight for the group today was finding some lovely wild clay that we can process and use ⚱️🏺might not be the biggest highlight for parents, sorry for the muddy, clay covered clothes!!!

Lovely afternoon with Bog Squad today, we prepped the planting area ready for the next batch of plants, we finished our splatometer survey work, we read a book resulting in a lovely discussion about it's hidden meanings and of course took some time to sit and watch this fantastic slug 💕

The speckled shade in the woods today was fantastic. We spent the day building hanging baskets, finding sunshine loving bugs, learning to weave and we found a lovely owl pellet to investigate too

Young Rangers session today was spent creating Beetle Habitat piles from trees that have fallen across the path on a Nature Reserve 🍁🌳🐞🪲

Today is EARTH DAY 🌍

At forest school today in all classes we have been taking a closer look at nature's patterns, both what we could see, and what we could hear. We took a few minutes to lay back and appreciate the world around us, and think about what we might do to make our little corner of the world a bit better too.

Todays World Curlew Day was celebrated at Bog Squad, we chatted about these fantastic birds and why they are Red Listed, then made our own fact file poster for the Outdoor Classroom area.

Fabulous day Celebrating Spring at Cumbria Wildlife Trusts Staveley Woodlands, we had a scavenger hunt, some wild art, den building and time just to hang out in hammocks and enjoy the bird song! 💕🌳🍂

I got a bit behind with the weekly updates sorry, so here is a round up of the last few weeks...we have been reading lots of nature inspired books Superworm of course is a solid fave with our littlies our older group are reading Footprints in the Woods, we are yet to discuss their thoughts. We have been hunting for illusive Hazel Flowers, making amphibian posters, doing LOTS of tree planting, cooking pancakes (of course) and making hedgehog boxes!!!

We are enjoying our weekly round ups...last week...what a muddy few sessions we had!!! This time of year we adults are battling weather, mud, puddles and fallen branches but the young people are embracing it, if anything loving the slimy, squelchy, sliding terrain we have under foot! Some of the sessions have also started their Big School bird watch and Ruby Robin awards this week too 😁🐦🦉🦆
