1630hrs 6th May - We are aware of the sinkhole on Milton Road just before Park Place

Milton Rd will be closed in both directions for the next 24hrs minimum, whilst emergency services and utility companies assess a large sinkhole that has opened up.

Kent Police, Kent Fire Brigade, Gas & Water engineers are on site and diversion routes are being set up by KCC Highways - teams intend to work through the night tonight.

Southern Water - Temporary Road Closure & Suspend One Way - A226 Lord Street, Gravesend

Starts THIS FRIDAY 9th May 2025 for 4 days

The road will be closed at the junction with Windmill Street. The One Way will be suspended to allow access.

The alternative route is via Parrock Street, Parrock Road, B261 Old Road East, Windmill Street, Woodville Place, A226 Wrotham Road, Railway Place, Windmill Street.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while water mains repair works are undertaken by Southern Water.

From time to time we like to remind everyone of our Busking & Pedlars Guidance which can be found on our website

Its great that "most" people engage and work with us when in town but some don't!! This can be hugely frustrating to shop staff who have to listen to the noise incessantly.

If you do want to "Busk" in town, please familiarise yourselves with our guidance which also explains "Pedlars" and who can and can't sell items on the street.

Do NOT Purchase anything being sold from a carrier bag - licenced traders will have an official selling area with a wheeled barrow and carry a pedlars licence with photo ID
