We are trying to keep on top of the pond area this year. Mandy is doing some sterling work. Let’s hope the water stays for a while as we have a couple of ducks visiting regularly.

🐍 Adders 🐍

With the glorious weather recently, we have seen an expected increase in calls regarding adder bites.

The adder (Vipera berus berus) is the only venomous snake native to the UK, and is also found across northern Europe. It is a protected species in the UK. Adders are most commonly, but not exclusively, found on dry, sandy heaths, sand dunes, rocky hillsides, moorlands and woodland edges. The clinical signs of an adder bite can include rapid and progressive swelling around the bite site, pain, lethargy, vomiting, bruising, bleeding and collapse.

What should you do if your pet has been bitten by an adder?
❌Do not panic.
❌Do not interfere with the bite.
❌Do not apply a tourniquet.
❌Do not attempt to touch or catch the snake.
❌Do not kill the snake – it is a protected species.
❌If practical, carry your dog to your car and go to your veterinary surgeon - do not delay seeking advice even if your pet is well as things can change quickly.

Adders are not aggressive and generally only bite when provoked. They hibernate in the winter and as a result most bites occur in the summer. Pets are frequently bitten on the leg, head or neck. If your pet has been bitten by an adder (even if you did not see the snake or are not sure what happened) – contact your vet immediately. Your vet will examine your pet to determine the location of the bite and extent of the swelling.

Veterinary professionals can call us any time on 02073 055 055 if required for assistance with managing cases of adder bites. We also hold a list of antivenom stockists across the UK. Please note that antivenom is not indicated in all cases.

This is interesting, who knew.

If you're out on the beach between Bacton and Sea Palling, you may come across a strange discovery!
A Deep History Detective community project run by Pathways to Ancient Britain is examining how artefacts move along the Deep History Coast – how far they move and over what timeframe. And so, bright pink numbered stones have been placed along this stretch of coastline. If you come across one, please record the location using the CITiZAN app. Once you’ve recorded the location, please leave the replica on the beach so its journey can continue to be tracked! Find out more here and download the app here: https://bit.ly/3U9zaaV

Didn’t realise you could book these for a day. Great idea if you want some shade for your dog.

As you may have seen we are collecting Trustpilot reviews if you leave one before the 9th of March you will be entered into a prize draw to win a beach hut day! Thank you so much to everyone who has already left one it means the world ❤️🌎 The reviews are now viewable on the website too!

When we read this one we thought maybe the map deserves another spot on the grid in case it helps you decided which hut suits you best!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The huts are amazing! Super clean (which is amazing given the sand!) the attention to detail with all the decorations and resources are great. A fab station of chairs, tables, and toys (buckets/spades etc). They’ve thought of everything from coffee to hot chocolate. We aren’t local so do a special visit once or twice a year and it’s always amazing! The beach is huge and super sandy. Plenty of space for everyone, the map is super helpful to understand where the huts are situated too.

We have done it again and we are so proud of gaining this award year on year. They say you can't please all the people all the time but we try really hard to do just that. A huge thank you to all our guests that have taken the time to submit a review.
