🇬🇷 Crete, you’ve filled my camera roll and my heart ✨

I’ve just returned from an incredible few days in Crete with my Designer Travel family, hosted with such generosity and style by Grecotel Hotels.

I fully intended to post more while I was there… but the days were so full, so inspiring and so beautifully put together that I simply let myself be in the moment. And honestly, I’m glad I did.

A few moments that truly stood out were Grecotel Lux Me White Palace... bright, chic and effortlessly luxurious, with those endless blue views.

A coastal sail onboard a pirate ship.... music, laughter and that carefree feeling you only get on the water

A Greek village celebration - dancing, flavours and a warmth that felt wonderfully authentic, and all colour coordinated with us here in blue and white.

Champagne reception at Caramel.. golden‑hour elegance and beautifully hosted.

AgrecoFarms learning, tasting and dining under the stars in the most magical setting

Between all of this, we spent time with our brilliant supplier partners, exploring exciting developments for 2027 and beyond.

There’s so much energy and innovation ahead, it’s a privilege to be part of it.

Then came the big reveal…
Next year’s conference is Mauritius 🇲🇺 .... a destination I’ve only just returned from, and one that completely stole my heart for many reasons.

But this week belonged to Grecotel, and they reminded me exactly why Greece continues to be such a beloved destination for so many.

Trips like this matter. They give me the insight, understanding and first‑hand experience to help clients choose the right hotel, the right setting, the right moment, not from guesswork, but from being there.

Warwick Castle isn’t my usual Thursday night spot, but certainly made it a "Knight" to remember!

Imagine strolling through the grounds and suddenly being greeted by a knight on horseback ...only in travel would that feel completely normal.

The evening had everything: great food, great company, a room full of people who genuinely love what they do.

‼️ TRAVEL UPDATE: JET FUEL & YOUR HOLIDAY PLANS ‼️

Let’s clear this up with facts, not fear.

As of the latest UK Government update (24 April 2026), there is no jet fuel shortage in the UK. Flights are operating normally, and there is no reason for travellers to change or cancel their plans.

✈️ What travellers need to know
UK airlines purchase fuel well in advance, and airports hold reserves specifically to protect operations. The government is in constant contact with airlines, airports and international partners to keep everything running smoothly.

💼 For anyone travelling soon
Your plans can continue as normal. Still, it’s always wise to:

- Check your flight status directly with your airline
- Keep an eye on the latest FCDO travel advice
- Make sure your travel insurance is valid and up to date

🛫 If your flight is cancelled
UK law protects you. You’re entitled to a full refund or an alternative flight if:

- You depart from a UK airport (any airline)
- You arrive in the UK on a UK or EU airline
- You arrive in the EU on a UK airline

🏛️ What the government is doing
Following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, the government is:

- Monitoring UK jet fuel supplies closely
- Working with airlines, airports and suppliers to keep flights operating
- Putting contingency plans in place while longer‑term solutions are developed

✈️ How airlines are being supported
Normally, airlines must use 80% of their take‑off/landing slots to keep them for the next year. The regulator has temporarily relaxed this rule:

- Airlines won’t lose their slots if fuel‑related issues prevent flying
- Exemptions can be requested where needed

This means airlines can prioritise passengers, not “ghost flights”

There’s a lot of noise online at the moment, so if anything feels unclear, just reach out. And as always, for verified information, the FCDO website is the best place to check.

I spent yesterday at the Kimpton Clocktower in Manchester with the Six Senses team, and I have to say… they really are something special✨️.

What struck me most wasn’t just the beautiful properties (though they are stunning), but the intention behind everything they do. Wellness, connection, and genuinely thoughtful service sit at the heart of their brand - and you feel it immediately.
Every guest has their own GEM (Guest Experience Manager), so nothing is ever “standard” or one‑size‑fits‑all.

The accommodation is incredible: family villas, multi‑gen spaces, and those gorgeous private‑pool suites that couples and honeymooners love. Everything feels considered and rooted in the destination.

Their wellness offering is on another level, and the food is fresh, local, and nourishing - exactly the kind of experience people remember long after they’ve returned home.

These relationships matter to me. Meeting the people behind the brand means I can make sure my clients are truly looked after with those little touches that make all the difference.

Travel Industry Update -
Fuel & Holiday Pricing

You may have seen recent media headlines about fuel shortages and rising holiday prices. As usual, much of this is driven by speculation and sensationalism rather than fact.

Across the hundreds of suppliers and airlines we work with, we have received zero notifications of fuel shortages. Only two airlines (Air Mauritius and EVA Air) have introduced a small fuel surcharge, and even then, clients can choose to prepay their tickets in full to avoid these charges.

Meanwhile, Jet2Holidays have today launched their LOCK IN YOUR PRICES campaign.
Like us, they recommend securing holidays now while prices remain lower - not because of fuel issues, but because demand is increasing.

When the situation in the Middle East stabilises, demand will surge again, as it always does, and prices will rise accordingly. Those who wait typically end up paying more.

During times like these, we strongly recommend booking a full package holiday through a professional travel agent (Im right here!)

You are far better protected under the Package Travel Regulations, and your travel advisor (me!) is there to guide you, assist you, and, if necessary, handle refunds should a tour operator cancel your trip.

We do not recommend saving a few pounds by booking online with companies that have poor customer service ratings.

Right now, more than ever, it’s important to check reviews and choose reputable providers.

Back home after four incredible days in Amsterdam for the CLIA RiverView Conference... and what a whirlwind it was.

This trip gave me my first real taste of life onboard a river cruise ship, staying on both VIVA Enjoy and Avalon View. From the moment we stepped onboard, everything just clicked: the service, the food, the calm atmosphere… it was such an effortless way to travel.

The more I discover about river cruising, the more I appreciate how seamlessly it blends culture, comfort and spectacular scenery. With intimate ships, iconic waterways and those magical Christmas Market sailings, it’s easy to understand why so many people fall in love with it.

I also toured an impressive line-up of ships ... Geoffrey Chaucer (Riviera Travel), AmaSerena (AmaWaterways), Emerald Luna (Emerald Cruises), TUI Maya (TUI River Cruises), Amadeus Riva (Amadeus River Cruises) and Riverside Debussy (Riverside Luxury Cruises). Each one had its own charm and personality, and it really highlighted how diverse the river cruise experience can be.

Between ship visits, the conference was packed with inspiring sessions and masterclasses - a brilliant chance to connect with suppliers, share ideas and stay ahead of what’s happening across the industry.

One thing’s certain: river cruising is booming, and there’s so much more to come.
