Notes, slightly more Gadwall around this week, more Crane sightings, fewer dragonflies than l would expect this time of year. A good year for Great Crested Grebes!

A picture of my first mate aboard Lady Ann at the weekend.
Another day of enjoying the breeze from under the canopy. Not too much about but did get a good stilting Bittern, 8 Crane, a Hobby and just a few Harriers and Buzzards. Oh and a Kingfisher and a few glimpses of Reedling. Dragonflies; Migrant Hawker and Common Darter dominate, with a few Southern and Brown Hawkers plus Lesser Emperors. Not many butterflies!

Lady Ann perhaps took her last trip today, or for a while at least, although she will be ready in reserve. Tomorrow will hopefully see the first of many trips into our wonderful Broadland aboard MV Golden Eagle.

Adrian’s Swallowtail caterpillar coincides with the beginning of the second brood of adults. We had such a great looking massive female drift around the bow of the boat yesterday. Still daily Bittern sightings but not as many and Grebe chicks ranging in age from a month old down to one day old. Happy days!
