As the Pinkies arrive and the evenings shorten more rapidly it is now the last week of the regular time tabled trips. Saturdays trips are planned for October and some specials will run if there is enough interest.
Today we had some lovely sightings of and singing by Reedlings, some stunning Hobbies catching dragonflies, and the usual marsh harriers, great white egrets( one of which was stood on a navigation post, something l have not witnessed before) woodpeckers, ducks and grebes, but what was very odd was a flock of seventeen heron, l have never seen more than three together before around here. There were kingfishers which are more common around here at this time of year, similarly a dabchick. Flocks of waders are moving about and lots of long tailed t**s. Come for a last ride with me, text to book.

We had another cuckoo on Friday, not this actual one as this perched beauty was last week, but we had a lovely long fly past. Lots of Gadwall about again a few more Bittern flights and crane too. Nice groups of Reedling in otherwise emptying reeds beds and just a few swallows and Martins.

Notes, slightly more Gadwall around this week, more Crane sightings, fewer dragonflies than l would expect this time of year. A good year for Great Crested Grebes!

A picture of my first mate aboard Lady Ann at the weekend.
Another day of enjoying the breeze from under the canopy. Not too much about but did get a good stilting Bittern, 8 Crane, a Hobby and just a few Harriers and Buzzards. Oh and a Kingfisher and a few glimpses of Reedling. Dragonflies; Migrant Hawker and Common Darter dominate, with a few Southern and Brown Hawkers plus Lesser Emperors. Not many butterflies!
