We are delighted for Karen as this week she found out she has won a place on the G Adventures Change Makers Summit in Cambodia this September, after being one of their top sellers at Travel Counsellors over the last few months. We love G Adventures here at Tour & Explore and their ethos of supporting local communities and travelling responsibly, so it will be fantastic for Karen to experience this first hand at their annual summit.

What an amazing few days it’s been in Austria!
On day 2 we hopped on the bus from Zell am See out to the Sigmund Thun Klamm gorge and it completely blew us away. Walking along the wooden walkways with the water thundering beneath us was incredible, then we wandered around the peaceful Klammsee lake above. All of this was covered by the local summer card, which was a brilliant bonus.

From there we took three cable cars up to 3,029 metres on the Kitzsteinhorn. It was chilly and a bit cloudy at the top, but still so special to be up in the high mountains (with a quick game of frisbee in the snow for good measure!), then finished the day with a fun ride on the Maisi Flitzer roller coaster in Kaprun.

Day 3 was another highlight, taking the cable car right next to our hotel up to the top of the Schmittenhöhe. The panoramic ridge walk up there has the most incredible views over the lake and surrounding peaks. There may have been a bit of “Sound of Music” twirling and some very competitive frisbee golf along the way!

After a quick lunch back at the hotel we headed into the village to look around a couple of hotels for future ski and summer holidays, then wrapped up the day with a drink overlooking the lake, dinner in the village and the Zell am See light show. Another brilliant, busy day in this beautiful corner of Austria.

This weekend Karen is in Zell am See on a walking adventure. Absolutely brilliant 24 hours in Zell am See with inghams.walking, it’s been jam-packed so far.

We were up early and headed down into the village to join the welcome walk with Alex, who told us all about the bus service, cable cars and local walks, and pointed out some great places of interest. It’s a really pretty town on the lake and the weather was kind. The scenery is picture perfect, with stunning views in every direction.

Next, we enjoyed a 45-minute cruise around the lake before lunch at villa_crazy_daisy (which was fab). Once we’d fuelled up, we set off on a 7-mile flat walk around the lake. It started off brilliantly but about three-quarters of the way round the heavens opened and the thunder started. We carried on to the bus station to use our complimentary summer card for the bus back up the hill to the village.
A long but fabulous day exploring this beautiful area. I’m in love!
