๐ช๐ธโ๏ธ PortAventura & Salou Blog โ๏ธ๐ช๐ธ
Hi everyone! Iโve not long got back from the most amazing fam trip to Salou, Cambrils & PortAventura World, and I experienced so much that I couldnโt wait to share it all with you ๐ซถ๐ปโจ
โ๏ธ Flying from Leeds Bradford Airport
We flew from Leeds Bradford to Reus Airport and started the trip in the best way possible! We used the Security Fast Track, which made the whole airport experience so much quicker and stress-free, it was definitely worth it if you want to relax sooner instead of queuing.
We also visited the Six Eight One Lounge before our flight and honestly, Iโd highly recommend it ๐ฝ๏ธ๐น There was so much food and drink choice included, and the atmosphere felt much calmer and more relaxing compared to the main airport bars and restaurants. Personally, Iโd probably spend the same amount if not more buying food and drinks separately in the airport anyway, so having it all unlimited at a great price felt like such a treat and made the holiday feel extra special from the start โจ
I also used the Mid Stay parking which was really easy and only a short walk to the terminal ๐ Although for family holidays with my toddlers, Iโd probably choose Meet & Greet parking as I find that much easier with little ones but that is personal preference.
๐ข PortAventura World & Ferrari Land
I spent two days at PortAventura World and absolutely loved it! Honestly, Iโd recommend it for all ages because there really is something for everyone.
The rides were incredible - my personal favourites were Uncharted and the Log Flume ๐ฆ๐ข For younger children, thereโs also a big Sesame Street area which completely surprised me. Before visiting, I assumed it was mainly aimed at older children, but my twins would absolutely love it there. There are regular character meet-and-greets, photo opportunities, shows, musicals and entertainment happening throughout the park all day long.
One thing that really stood out to me was that PortAventura is so much more than โjustโ a theme park. Thereโs so much to do, loads of entertainment, and plenty of food options throughout the park including great allergy friendly choices too.
Our tickets also included one evening at Ferrari Land ๐๏ธโค๏ธ Perfect for any car lovers or thrill seekers! There were lots of food options, different experiences, and even a soft play area for younger children which I thought was such a lovely touch.
The highlight has to be Red Force and this is the fastest ride in Europe ๐ข If you love adrenaline rides, this is definitely for you! Ferrari Land was open from 4pmโ10pm during our stay, which gave us loads of time to explore and enjoy the rides at night too.
While there, we ate at Trattoria Maranello and the food was incredible ๐โจ Great choice, lovely atmosphere and really affordable too and Iโd definitely return!
Thereโs also a waterpark next door which can be added separately unless included in your package, and it looks amazing ๐ฆ Theyโre even adding more attractions this year!
๐ Cartoixa dโEscaladei Guided Visit
We also enjoyed a guided visit to Cartoixa dโEscaladei which lasted around an hour. It was really interesting learning about the history, the monastery and how parts of it were rebuilt using original materials.
Afterwards, we did a Virtual Reality experience which was honestly one of the best things Iโve ever done! It felt so realistic and immersive - itโs hard to describe just how good it was. Iโd absolutely do it again, especially considering itโs only around โฌ7pp!
๐ท Cellers de Scala Dei Winery Experience
We visited the beautiful Cellers de Scala Dei winery where we tasted four different wines followed by a delicious 3-course lunch ๐ทโจ
It was such a lovely experience learning about the history of the winery and seeing how the wines are produced. I honestly didnโt think something like this would be my kind of thing, but it completely changed my mind and I really enjoyed it. Definitely something Iโd recommend if youโre visiting the area!
โด๏ธ Ferry Trip from Salou to Cambrils
We took the ferry from Salou to Cambrils and it was such a lovely way to travel ๐ It only took around 30 minutes and the coastal views were beautiful. Anyone who knows me knows I love a boat trip ๐ It was also super affordable and much cheaper than getting a taxi.
๐ Salou Coastal Path Walk
We also explored the Salou Coastal Path Walk and the views were unreal ๐ There are around 25 viewpoints along the route with gorgeous beaches and scenery throughout. Perfect if you enjoy walking, exploring and stopping for photos along the way!
๐จ Hotels I stayed at -
โจ Hotel El Paso
Located right at PortAventura World, only a few minutes walk from the park entrance. Itโs a Mexican-themed hotel with a really fun atmosphere, large pool area and lovely pool bar. Perfect if you want to stay close to the parks while still having that traditional hotel feel. Guests staying for a week also receive unlimited park entry plus one evening entry to Ferrari Land ๐ข
โจ Ponient Hotel Dorada Palace
A great family-friendly option located around a 10โ15 minute walk from the parks. The hotel has two pools, modern rooms and a large restaurant with lots of food choices. They also offer packages including park tickets which is a great option for families wanting everything together.
โจ H10 Cambrils Playa
This was my personal favourite โ๏ธ Located in Cambrils but still super close to Salou. The hotel felt really modern and had lots of lovely little touches, including toiletries kits and even a personalised welcome message on the TV! My room was really spacious and the hotel had both a large pool and a childrenโs splash area. Iโll definitely be returning here soon โจ
๐ช๐ธ My Overall Thoughts on Salou & Cambrils
I absolutely loved my first visit to Salou! The nightlife was brilliant, there were so many lovely bars and restaurants, and everything felt really affordable - we got so much for our money.
Cambrils had a much more relaxed and chilled atmosphere which I also loved. It was perfect for slower evenings, lovely meals and relaxing by the sea. I personally think Iโd stay in Cambrils and visit Salou whenever I wanted a bit more nightlife and liveliness, especially as theyโre so close together and easy to travel between ๐ซ
Both destinations work perfectly together and give you the best of both worlds!
