Short tour Thursday!
A coast to coast ride with quiet roads, lovely views, lots of history, a well-built wall...it has to be Hadrian's Cycleway. It has a bit of everything: flat riding to start on the Solway coast with lovely views out to sea over the gorse bushes, then on to the more rolling terrain with plenty of historical sites to distract the mind from the legs! Hadrian's Wall is an amazing structure, but we also pass other historical sites - the 12th Century Lanercost Priory, one of the best preserved Roman Forts at Birdoswald and Vindolanda Roman Fort to name a few. The cycleway follows some traffic free sections as it winds through the bustling city of Newcastle, before finishing at the coast in Tynemouth, with it's lovely Priory. Here's what some of our riders had to say:
🚴♂️ A perfect mix of difficulty and scenery. Great for first timers.
🚴♀️ Brilliant roads - largely car free and fab countryside and views to take in
🚴♂️ A good mixture of hills & flatter long paths/roads which balanced things out nicely.
🚴♀️ A super route, very scenic, quiet roads.
We have spaces still on our 2 and 3 day tours this year, visit our website or get in touch with us if you'd like to know more.
