Iris season in Tokyo 💜

If you’re looking for a peaceful flower spot in June, Mizumoto Park is one of Tokyo’s best places to see Japanese irises. The park is huge, green, and full of waterside views, which makes the iris fields feel extra beautiful during rainy season.

Mizumoto Park has around 14,000 irises of about 100 varieties, blooming in shades of purple, white, and blue. It’s also part of the Katsushika Iris Festival, held together with Horikiri Shobuen.

One of Tokyo’s three great festivals, the Sanno Matsuri is centered around Hie Shrine and is known for its rare procession through central Tokyo, including areas around the Imperial Palace. It only takes place on even years so this year is the rare chance to see a large-scale traditional procession pass through Tokyo’s modern cityscape.
