I absolutely love hosting guests at my cottage in Happisburgh and am constantly delighted with the lovely comments in my guest book and online about how clean, comfy and well-equipped it is.

I do love the personal touch and have made some of the cushions myself. I also like to support local artists and friends who now adorn the walls.

Arrived at Goldfinch Cottage today to do the changeover and found this lovely message in my guest book and crocheted hearts. Honestly, I have such lovely guests.

"Thank you for sharing your beautiful property. The beds are amazing! The local beaches have kept the grandchildren entertained and away from mobile phones. The paddock is a great space for games too. Will highly recommend."

Yes, that super king bed is a real winner.

We were lucky enough to have a 2 night gap between guests so had a very short break at Goldfinch Cottage.

The last guests loved it: "We have had a fabulous week in this very cosy cottage. The bed was amazing! Great location for exploring and seeing the birdlife and wildlife nearby. Garden is a great place to sit in the evening - lots of butterflies."

Cottage all prepped now for the next guests arriving today.

A celebration for Happisburgh Lighthouse just down the road from Goldfinch Cottage.

🎉 Today we are celebrating 35 years since Happisburgh Lighthouse became independently operated!

📅 On 1st August 1990, after a determined two-year campaign to save it from closure, Trinity House officially handed over the running of the lighthouse to the newly formed Happisburgh Lighthouse Trust.

💡 Today, it remains the UK’s only independently operated working lighthouse, kept shining through the dedication of volunteers and the generosity of supporters.

🌊 Here's to 35 years of keeping the light alive — and many more to come! 🙌⚓️❤️

If the weather isn't on your side when you're staying at Goldfinch Cottage, you can always browse the bookshelves for some reading matter. There are also board games, lots of jigsaw puzzles, and masses of DVDs in case you don't have a Netflix or Amazon Prime account. My last guests enjoyed the scrabble.

"Spacious and well equipped cottage in a tranquil location. Lovely welcome basket. We enjoyed playing scrabble on the very rainy day. Great to be able to book a short break to coincide with the grandchildren's end of term. Everything you could possibly need ... and more!"

5 stars again from my last guests.

"A fantastic holiday home. Spacious and well equipped with a super courtyard garden ideal for relaxing and keeping dogs safe. Easy access to county walks, and 30-40 minutes walk to the beach. Having everything on one level is brilliant and a wet-room style bathroom thoughtfully designed to be accessible for all. Comfortable seating and beds. Happisburgh is a hidden gem. Quiet sandy beach even on a warm summer day, and access for dogs all year around. Fish and chips from Walcott (a short drive away) were delicious. Would love to visit again."

Getting some great reviews on the cottages.com website. 5 stars for both cleanliness and comfort. Well, you can't top that can you?

I have a few nights available in September and October so if you fancy an autumn break in a peaceful location by the sea, message me for dates and rates. Happy to accommodate 2 well behaved dogs.

Gosh this has to be one of the loveliest guest book entries I've read. Feeling a bit emotional.

"We decided to have a quiet break away to celebrate the end of GCSE's for my son and stumbled across the Goldfinch Cottage. What a great place, a real home from home! You've thought of everything to make our stay as comfortable as can be. We've loved staying here. Also, thank you Jane for the Welcome Hamper, such a lovely touch. We will certainly book again and stay for longer. Will certainly recommend. Definitely 5 stars all round. Just perfect!"

I'm always adding little touches to Goldfinch Cottage. This week my husband and I upcycled some garden furniture for the paddock. In the evening, once the paint had dried, we sat out with some cocktails and the guests staying in the cottage next door.
