A triple of town tours - sharing Harlech, the tiny town with huge history - over the last three weeks with some lovely people. Next tour is Wednesday August 26, starting from the Two Kings statue by the castle at 11am.

Last week’s Not Just the Castle town tour of Harlech was truly international - two from Wales (Pembrokeshire), two from England (Chester) and four from France via Brazil, England and Germany. This week’s tour is on Thursday.

If you’re resident or visitor, make time to see this fabulous exhibition of one of Wales’ most famous scenes - thanks to artist Sydney Curnow Vosper and a woman called Siân. The exhibition not only gives the background to the painting, the artist and those locals who appear in the painting but gives a great insight into the 200-year history of this little chapel near Harlech.

Here’s a few photos of the great gem of Gwydir Castle, near Llanrwst. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve taken Viking cruise ship passengers there but I never tire of going to Gwydir - it’s a very special place.

Half Term history, heritage and adventure in the heart of North Wales 🚂🌄

📰 35 years ago today “the curtain was drawn back on 4,000 years of history…as Llandudno's Great Orme Copper Mines opened to the public.
A bus-load of excited visitors were waiting as the gates opened for the first time...”*

Today, 35 years later to the very day, those gates will again be opened to welcome both new and returning visitors. It’s our visitors who enable us to reopen year after year, allowing research and study of the site to continue. Thank you to all of you!
