A table top view from the shepherd’s huts. Sit with a morning coffee, be treated to the curlews and other birds as they go about their mornings. I am biased, but I think it is the best view, one of the things that reminds me why I keep going!

This Curlew has found the fire meeting point. Been watching this one all week and listening. They are such interesting birds. If you love bird watching, you will be spoilt by the birds up here in West End, espcially curlews, lapwings, red kites, kestrels and owls - all very active at the moment.

It has certainly been feeling a little more summery this week, with temperatures rising again. We are full up this weekend for camping and glamping. We have Wensleydale our new hut available for 2 nights from Sunday if anybody fancies treating Dad to a last minute glamping break? We can also do gift vouchers which are redeemable on our website against glamping or camping, sent in e-voucher form ready to use straight away.

Where to go Wednesday. Parcevall Hall Gardens, just over the hill sits this garden of tranquility. 24 acres of immaculate garden and woodland.

‘The gardens were laid out by the late Sir William Milner from 1927 onwards, and are planted with specimens from around the world, many collected from Western China and the Himalayas.

Within the grounds, visitors will discover woodland walks, formal, south facing terraces, a bedrock limestone rock garden and a beautiful rose garden where it is a pleasure to sit and relax. All set against the stunning back-drop of the Yorkshire Dales.’

Well worth a visit, just a short drive from here over the tops. Parcevall Hall

When you have an excess of something you try to get creative. Spinach cake… it wasn’t well received 😂 in fact I definitely saw it going to Mr Darcy, who ate it happily - I would’ve been mortified if the canine hoover had rejected it. So sadly I don’t think I’ve discovered a trend 😂
