Yes I got it wrong the first time. Tired after long days in the cold and wet all week. Anyway I’ve re-edited.
VAT for hospitality needs urgently addressing alongside all the other pressures and problems all businesses are facing. Businesses need the pressures reducing to survive like during the pandemic. Stealth tax rises, war, escalating costs…
Nothing would give me more joy than seeing thriving high street. Pubs forming the centre of a community rather than closing daily. Farmers actually making a true living.
Taxes were raised, businesses are baring the brunt, which puts the price up or puts people out of business. Businesses stop hiring, cut costs to survive.
Cut the tax/vat/ni - it helps relieve these pressures, this stabilising prices, keeping people in jobs, giving people money to spend, giving businesses money to spend…
Nobody has ever taxed into prosperity. Small businesses play as big a part as the giants - everyone deserves a chance to survive. along with other things… insert here as you wish 😉

A59 update - Updated video of what the road is looking like from North Moor Road. So when coming from skipton you can now turn in left at the top of West End again, before kexgill. I’ve shown it from both directions for you so you can a feel for what it’s like. We love Skipton so are glad it’s easier to get out again. Great for our guests too - can’t have you all missing out on what’s on offer in that direction.

Extras we’ve added on for you and the thought process behind it. Always in the back of my mind is can we do more, but we do already do a lot between the 2 of us - so this is big of how the thought process works for me. And it’s always good to find more reasons to eat pizza 😂 🍕

Is it really June? 😂 Anyway this time last year we were having a drought, this year it’s flooding. Keeps us all on our toes. Not the nicest day to be out, but still beats sitting in an office. Everyday rain or shine the show must go on!

What a downpour this morning! Is it really June? Even the pet lambs are fed up today. It doesn't just rain, it absolutely pours down. Lovely rainbow at the end though.

How cool is this turnpike mile stone? Skipton on one side and Ripon on the other. West End sits directly on an old, high elevation packhorse and turnpike route that historically connected the market towns of Skipton and Ripon.

Long before the A59, trans-pennine travellers and packhorse drivers crossed the moors of places like Blubberhouses and West End, in a direct line route. Not usually the easiest, but usually an as the crow flies path.

In the 18th and 19th century private companies called turnpike trusts took over these roads. They were forced to put stone markers every mile to ensure travellers knew the distance and to ensure correct fares for coach travellers.

A piece of heritage. The flat top of the 8 would indicate late 18th century for this one (roughly 1770 to 1810). These markers got displaced when the valley was completely carved up to form the reservoir. I’m not sure it’s in its exact original location (the route did pass through the farm), but this one is still going strong and is in pretty remarkable condition for a potentially over 200 year old stone, which has been battered by the West End weather.

A testament to Yorkshire grit 💪

A small unique place, built from the ground up by us. Everything lovingly handcrafted to blend in with nature. Being out in the countryside doesn’t mean you can’t have home comforts, and we have created that for you, injecting our personality into a place for adults to enjoy an escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

Thank you for watching. Just to follow on from the previous video. If I can help you guys understand what’s going on in farming I will. These are important things to talk about and help get the message out there. I’m going to try get out on the farm if the weather is a little bit better next week so you can to know our farm and see what we do, which I know you are waiting for.
