Nestled in 800 acres of rolling countryside filled with wildlife, Hob Green Estate is home to three, five ⭐ holiday cottages - Reynard House, Hob Cottage and Yew Cottage. We have taken on a huge project to renovate, redesign and preserve this beautiful North Yorkshire garden. Hopefully, Hob Green's garden gate will be open to the public in 2015 but in the meantime please join us on our journey! OU

Wild garlic embracing the woodland walk 🌳🤍

It’s that time of year when the woodland comes alive with a bed of green and white from the wild garlic. Not just a pretty bloom but also a staple for spring cooking - used in pestos, salads, garnishes or whatever you fancy! We encourage all guests to try it during their stay. ✨

Tales from Shakespeare by Charles and Mary Lamb 🧚‍♀️

This collection is aimed at retelling Shakespeare’s most famous stories in prose to a younger audience. Filled with many more illustrations that help capture the magic and emotions Shakespeare wrote about, whilst retaining his language. This ethereal illustration by A. E. Jackson is of Bottom and the Fairy Queen from a Midsummers Night’s Dream. ✨🖋️

Written in 1807 by the Lamb siblings, this book was published circa 1910 by Ward, Lock & Co. This collection of stories can be found in the children’s section of the ‘A Room with a View’ suite’s library. 📜

Anemone blanda spilling out in the sun all the way to the White Border’s gate 🪻🌱

Also known as the winter windflower these flowers are hardy perennials which flower between March and April. They mostly come in intense blue but also can be white or pink. 🌸✨

Beautiful Reynard House in the autumn 🍁

Reynard House sleeps 2-10 and is thoughtfully decorated, with luxury large spaces. It’s set within enchanting Victorian gardens and surrounded by a peaceful, private estate. 🌳🪻

Some blooms recently 🌞🌸

The first blossom we believe to be a rare pear variety, next is an akebia quinata Alba which smells enticingly of chocolate! Finally one of our blossoming apple trees from the old orchard malus brevipes ‘Wedding Bouquet’ - a flowering crab apple 🍎 🌸

Little Dorrit by Charles Dickens. ✒️

Little Dorrit has been photographed on our very own Charles Dickens desk replica, he wrote A Tale of Two Cities and Great Expectations on the original in London. It is a faithful replica and includes reproductions of scratch marks and ink stains from the author - we are very lucky to own number 15. If you stayed with us you'd be able to enjoy a cup of tea at the desk, surrounded by the library, and even read up on the creation of this replica. ☕

Written in 1857, this edition was published around 1900-1920 by Chapman and Hall and the charming endpapers and beautiful illustrations are by ‘Phiz’. This is part of a collectible set from the 20th century called The Works of Charles Dickens: Complete Edition in Twenty Volumes ~ it can be found in Reynard House's Main Library. 📜
