A PERFECT NIGHT AT WASTWATER
One of my favourite lakes without a doubt is Wastwater. It is a bit more remote than a lot of the Lake District, it certainly doesn't lack dramatic scenery and best of all, there's very little light pollution which makes it ideal for night time photography.
I shot this at about 2:30am a couple of nights ago. The lake was so still and I love the way the stars reflect in the surface of the water. The pink glow is a hint of the Northern Lights. The bright dot in the sky above Yewbarrow fell is our sister galaxy Andromeda and the spiral arm of the Milky Way arches across the sky above it all. I love being out in these magical places in any conditions but a night like this is really special.
