It is here! The brochure for HERITAGE OPEN DAYS 2026 is now available in Hedon. You can pick up your copies from HEDON MUSEUM, St. AUGUSTINE'S CHURCH and the TOWN HALL. Inside are all the details of open buildings, walks and talks going on in the East Riding. There are 6 open buildings and 13 walks taking place in Hedon between the Saturday 12th and Sunday 20th September. Please note that the brochure has missed out afternoon walks on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons. On Saturday 12th and Sunday 20th at 2pm there will be a tour of St. Augustine's Graveyard, Church Lane, and on Sunday 13th and Saturday 19th, again at 2pm there will a tour of the interior of St. Augstine's Church.

The HALF HOUR OF HEDON HISTORY is back. Find out about the windmill at Preston and those who worked there in just 30 mins. This will be upstairs at Hedon Museum and starts at 11:30 on Saturday 1st August, which by coincidence is YORKSHIRE DAY. Entry is free, as are the refreshments. Remember that Hedon Museum is open Wednesday and Saturday between 10am and 4pm and is entirely free, and run by volunteers. Our temporary exhibition presently is Images of Hedon, Past and Present. HEDON HISTORY TALK
For this month’s Hedon History Talk, Lucy will be discussing the famous Magdalen Fair, from its medieval origins as a day of relic worship to the hedonistic week of fun and debauchery it became. Come along to hear about lepers, shrines, giants and dwarves, tightrope dancers and much more! Thursday 30th July, 7pm, at Royal British Legion. £5 on the door. We hope to see you there!

Hedon Museum has a new exhibition just started. Why not come along to the new 'Hedon Past and Present' exhibition', and why not come along at 11:30 on Saturday 27th June for this month's 'HALF HOUR OF HEDON HISTORY' which this month tell the story of the Sunk Island Colony in 30 mins. Come and learn about this social engineering enterprise and see the new exhibition of a remarkably low price of FREE! We will even throw in refreshments too.

Better late than never, hopefully.
Tomorrow's Hedon History Walks Illustrated talk this month is presented by Tony Porter and titled 'THE ALTERNATIVE HEDON SILVER TALK'. This will reveal some of the stories behind some of the real treasures held by the Hedon Town Council, and some that have gone missing too.
The talk starts at 7pm at the Hedon British Legion on Magdalen Gate. No ticket required and just £5 on the door.

The someone that talked will be Tony Porter of Hedon History and it will be at the Hedon British Legion on Magdalen Gate at 7 pm on Thursday 30th April. His talk will tell some of the stories of our Hedon Heroes that served in WWII. There are real Boys Own tales from land, sea and air. No booking required, just come along at 7 pm. £5 on the door.
