B&M Care Understanding Starts Here🌹
Residential | Dementia | Respite

Founded in 1975 by B&M Care Chairman Bill Hughes, B&M Care is a ‘family run business for families’ that has established a longstanding success story that continues to develop its person-centred approach to improving the lives of those living with a dementia. With the support of a forward-thinking Board of Directors and Senior Management team, B&M Care has created a benchmark for delivering excepti

onal care within enabling, high-quality environments, resulting in a strong foothold in the private care sector. Delivered in-line with B&M Care’s Rose Model of Dementia Care and overall person-centred ethos is a commitment to upholding a person’s dignity, autonomy and freedom to lead a fulfilling lifestyle through bespoke day-to-day care practice that looks at an individual’s uniqueness, rather than their physical or cognitive capacity. This approach is further complimented with a responsibility to delivering a comprehensive programme of meaningful engagement for the sole purpose of meeting the physical, psychological, social and cultural needs and interests of every individual living in a B&M Care Home. Within each of our homes is a seven-day-a-week engagement schedule comprising of both home-based and in-the-community initiatives to better support a person’s relationship with life both in and outside of their environment. As a specialist within the dementia care sector, B&M Care’s knowledge and practice extends beyond the immediacy of our homes with an ongoing commitment to developing, supporting, and ultimately sustaining a dementia-friendly community within each of our care home locations. This approach consists of a number of events, including B&M Care’s signature ‘Living Well with Dementia Seminar’ and month-to-month ‘Memory Cafes’, as well as Second Wind Dreams® Virtual Dementia Tour: a ground-breaking experience that was launched in the UK at B&M Care’s Ashlyns Care Home in Berkhamsted in 2016 to offer participants (including B&M Care staff members) insight into what it feels like to live with a dementia. Further to this, B&M Care operates an open-door policy for visitors and family caregivers to seek dementia-specific information to better support them when caring for a loved one living with a dementia at home. Here at B&M Care, we are proud to be at the forefront of the dementia care sector, and with an ongoing commitment to enhancing our care practice – whether it’s through continued staff training or embedding innovation at the centre of our approach – we are proud to be recognised as a chosen provider that makes a positive difference to the lives of those living in our care.

A wonderful morning filled with smiles, laughter, and so many special moments here at Taras Retreat 🐑🐇🐥🦆

We were delighted to welcome Janet and her lovely farm animals for a truly memorable visit. Residents and team members enjoyed bottle feeding lambs, cuddling rabbits and guinea pigs while little chicks and ducks happily wandered around spreading joy wherever they went 💕

These experiences are so valuable for encouraging sensory engagement, building confidence, and creating meaningful connections for everyone involved ✨

Yesterday, our residents at Clare Lodge enjoyed a wonderful morning together at The Hideaway with their daughters and loved ones 💕🏡

Together, we made lunch, shared lots of laughter, and enjoyed spending quality time in a warm and welcoming environment 😊🍽️

The Hideaway is a beautiful detached house specially designed to promote wellbeing, independence, and creativity in a setting that feels just like home. It is a fantastic space available for residents across all 28 B&M Care homes to enjoy!

We cannot wait to create more special memories together at future family visits.

Paint brushes, bright colours, music in the background, and plenty of imagination… our latest Arts & Crafts sessions have been full of creativity, laughter, and wonderful teamwork at Montrose. 🎨

This week our residents continued working on their modern abstract art project, experimenting with different colours, patterns, and techniques to create something truly unique. It’s been lovely watching everyone add their own touch to the canvas and seeing the confidence grow with every session.

A special mention to our newer residents Frances, Stuart, and Brenda, who joined in beautifully and quickly got into the creative spirit. From careful painting to bold splashes of colour, everyone brought something special to the project.

Audrey and Pamela from Taras Retreat enjoyed a truly special afternoon out in the community, continuing a tradition that means so much to everyone involved.

Our wonderful Knit & Natter group have spent months carefully crafting knitted squares, each one made with time, care, and purpose. These were lovingly brought together by our fantastic volunteer Mandy into beautiful blankets, which we were so proud to donate for the second year running to at The Quadrant.

The welcome from Denise and her team was as warm as ever, and after handing over the blankets, it was time for a well-earned cup of tea, a few chocolates, and plenty of smiles ☕🍫

Of course, no trip would be complete without a little browse… or three! From charity shop treasures to a quick peek in the jewellers, the afternoon ended in style with Pamela dazzling in her new hat and sequinned jacket, and Audrey picking out some lovely blouses.

Something made with love is now helping others in the community ✨

Fresh country air, beautiful views, and gentle moments spent with some very special retired horses… sometimes the quietest afternoons leave the biggest impression. 🐴

Our residents loved meeting the horses up close and hearing all about their stories and personalities. You could see the joy and calm in every interaction, with smiles appearing the moment the horses wandered over to say hello.

Surrounded by rolling countryside and blue skies, it was the perfect chance to slow down, take everything in, and enjoy nature together. Watching friendships blossom, both with the animals and one another, made the afternoon even more meaningful.
