🌿 Where will your next holiday with Rural Concierge take you? 🌿

We've just returned from another wonderful few days in Dunster and Exmoor, and here are just a few of our favourite photographs.

From the medieval streets of Dunster and the dramatic scenery of Exmoor to the picturesque harbours of Porlock Weir and Lynmouth, it really is one of England's most beautiful corners.

One of the joys of travelling by coach is that you can simply sit back, relax and enjoy the ever-changing scenery while we take care of the driving, planning and organising.

A little piece of Normandy in Berkshire! 🧵🇫🇷

While we weren't able to secure group tickets for this year's Bayeux Tapestry Exhibition at the British Museum, our recent Normandy holiday included a wonderful alternative.

On our journey to France, we stopped at Reading Museum to see its remarkable Victorian replica of the Bayeux Tapestry. It's an extraordinary work of craftsmanship, and everyone was amazed by the level of detail. Several people even commented that they could hardly tell the difference from the original!

Better still, we had the museum almost entirely to ourselves, making it a wonderfully relaxed visit. Entry is free, although the museum recommends a £5 donation per person, which is well worth supporting.

Sometimes the unexpected visits become the highlights of a holiday, and this was certainly one of them!

With the original Bayeux Tapestry heading to the British Museum this September, Reading Museum is marking a milestone anniversary of Britain's own full-scale replica of the medieval artwork.

We've just returned from our annual overseas holiday - This year to Normandy, and what a fantastic few days we had!

To say we packed a lot into the holiday would be an understatement, but everything was enjoyed at a relaxed and leisurely pace.

There were so many highlights... strolling through the beautiful gardens at Monet's home, standing on the historic Pegasus Bridge, spending time at the moving British Normandy Memorial, wandering around the picturesque harbour of Honfleur, exploring Lisieux and its charming neighbouring villages, and, of course, sampling Normandy's famous Calvados, c***r and delicious local cheeses!

To start our adventure, we even stopped at Reading Museum to see the remarkable Victorian replica of the Bayeux Tapestry before crossing the Channel.

Normandy really is a region of contrasts. It's full of beautiful scenery, rolling countryside and charming towns, yet wherever you go, you're reminded of its rich history and the sacrifices made during the Second World War.

A huge thank you to everyone who travelled with us. As always, your friendship, laughter and good company made the holiday so special. We hope you returned home with lots of happy memories... and perhaps a bottle of Calvados tucked safely into your suitcase! 😊🍎🥃

If you’re booked onto our next Northumberland holiday at the end of this month… you might want to look away now! 👀

Last week we enjoyed a wonderful break away up north, and I think it’s fair to say everyone had a fantastic time.

We began with a stop in Sheffield on the way up, even managing to soak up a bit of the snooker atmosphere before continuing on to the in Alnwick, where we were very well looked after.

One of the real highlights was our boat trip out towards Holy Island via the Farne Islands, where we were treated to seals and puffins in abundance — such a special experience.

The following day, we met Anna , our excellent Blue Badge Guide, and set off to explore the heart of Northumberland, taking in the spectacular scenery and history along Hadrian’s Wall.

On our final full day, we strolled over to Alnwick Gardens and Castle. The day began with a fascinating tour of the Poison Garden, followed by free time to explore. A school group were brave enough to try broomstick training in the castle grounds… We were not quite that adventurous!

All in all, it was a wonderfully full itinerary, but enjoyed at a lovely relaxed pace — just how we like it.

We do still have a few places remaining on our next Northumberland holiday departing 31st May for 5 days, so if you’re tempted to join us, do let me know — it would be lovely to have you along!

🌿 Back from a wonderful few days away… 🌿

On Thursday we returned to Herefordshire after a lovely holiday to Portsmouth & the Isle of Wight.

During our time away we enjoyed visits to Wi******er, Chichester and Portsmouth, explored the fascinating Historic Dockyard (including the Mary Rose), and took a scenic coach tour of the Isle of Wight with Jackie, our excellent Blue Badge Guide.

Staying at the centrally located Royal Maritime Hotel meant there was so much to see and do, we may just have to return!
