Moccas Park National Nature Reserve is just over the river from The Cider Mill and it’s one of our favourite places to walk. Its ancient trees provide plenty of shade, the views are fabulous, and there’s a network of footpaths for all abilities. Plenty of other local walking options are of course available! 🥾

The Cider Mill is across the paddock from Monnington House, our 18th-century red brick manor which we've lovingly restored for a new generation. Book both properties together to sleep up to 24; perfect for a family reunion or special celebration.

We were thrilled to be featured in such a prestigious publication, and we're so proud of the details in Monnington House that they loved:

"This is a very comfortable and beautifully decorated house, with three bedrooms and three ensuites. There is plenty of hot water, heated towel rails in all the bathrooms and very comfortable beds and sheets. The Cider Mill has a well-equipped kitchen and there is a lovely garden with plenty of seating. There is a lovely farm shop about 4 minutes' drive from the house and it is 10 miles from Hay on Wye, driving through lovely countryside. I would highly recommend this property."

Here's the view from Bredwardine Bridge looking beautiful in this photo sent by recent guests. They enjoyed a paddle while their dogs had a cooling swim before heading home to chill out in our garden 🐶. Other recent visitors have booked to enjoy the Wye with Hereford Kayak & Canoe at Byecross 🛶. Another option for messing about on the river would be to hire a guide and equipment for a fishing trip 🎣.
We are so lucky to have so many options in easy reach!

July is National Picnic Month! But any time is great for a picnic in our beautiful, rural part of Herefordshire. We have more picnic spots than we can list, so you’ll have to come and discover your own favourites. And with a hamper or backpack full of goodies from Oakchurch Farm Shop just up the road from The Cider Mill, or any of our other amazing local producers of food and drink, you will definitely not go hungry!

Here are our top picnic spots for inspiration, all of which are within easy reach of the house.

We love to welcome as many people as possible to The Cider Mill, so are happy to highlight the following features that make it particularly accessible to less mobile guests …
🛏 All three of our bedrooms are on the ground floor. Each room has a zip and link king size bed which can be changed to singles on request.
🚿 Each bedroom has an ensuite bathroom.
🌳 We have wooden flooring throughout the property.
🚗 A car can park almost next to the front door step, which is 10cm high.
👩‍🦽 There is level access to all accommodation other than a small rise of 2cm from hall to reception room.
🥾 There are plenty of flat walking trails from the door, so everyone can enjoy our peaceful surroundings.

Book The Cider Mill with Monnington House and have access to one more ground-floor bedroom with an ensuite bathroom, and sleep up to 24 guests.

If you’re looking for dog-friendly luxury self-catering accommodation for up to 6 (and two dogs), you’ve found the right place! 🐶

Not only do we provide dog crates, sherpa cage mats, water bowls, towels, p**p bags and a hose for washing muddy paws, we are also in the perfect location for a relaxing break with your four-legged friends.

🐕 We have a range of walks direct from the door.
💧 The River Wye is nearby for a cooling doggy paddle.
🛶 Or pop your pooch into a canoe and get out onto the water.
🌺 Dogs are welcome at several local eateries including Garden Café at Brobury House Gardens, the Red Lion at Bredwardine and the Kilpeck Inn.
🏪 Our local market town, Hay-on-Wye, is very welcoming to dogs so a trip up there is never a worry.

Oakchurch Farm Shop just up the lane from us is the place to go for juicy cherries, strawberries, raspberries straight from their own farm. Or, if you're out and about, swing by Berries Unlocked's clever soft fruit vending machine in Ledbury! 🍓 Local drink producers like Bentleys at Castle Fruit Farm and Artistraw Cider have also been busy bottling their ciders, spirits and juices – perfect for a tasting session. 🍾🍺 🍎
