Heavenfield Cottage is a beautifully renovated farm building conversion on our family farm in the heart of Hadrian’s Wall Country. The cottage sits very uniquely on top of Hadrian's Wall itself and offers luxury 5 star and award winning self catering accommodation for two. This working farm stocks over 1100 sheep and a herd

of 120 cattle and has been in our family for over 50 years. We love where we live and what we do and in 2017 we diversified to something new, to something that would enable us to welcome guests to our beautiful location. The old farm building was converted to a stunning self catering cottage and we are now delighted to be able to offer guests the opportunity to enjoy all that makes St Oswald's Farm special. There is history all around us, not only are we located on the Hadrian's Wall National Trail, we are adjacent to our very lovely 'Heavenfield' the old cattle site of the Battle of Heavenfield which took place in 633 and in which stands St Oswald's Church. Heavenfield is also a preserved hay meadow and the end point of the long distance walking route, St Oswald's Way. Not only are we immersed in history here, we have the most fantastic views and our central location means we are ideally positioned to enjoy day trips to the whole of Northumberland from Hadrian's Wall, to the Northumberland National Park, the Dark Skies and the fantastic Northumberland coast, the magnificent castles, charming gardens and the many amazing visitor attractions. We are happy for guests to explore our farm and will happily recommend walks and even provide a map of the farm showing the best vantage points. We will gladly answer any questions you might have about our farm, our animals and recommend day trips and places of interest if you're struggling to choose from the huge choice. Within the cottage itself many of the original features remain, with beams, exposed stonework, cobbles outside and with stones from Hadrian's Wall itself within the construction, Heavenfield Cottage is immersed in history and you can even boast that you've slept on top of Hadrian's Wall. A modern and well equipped kitchen ensures self-catering is a pleasure and we know you'll feel at home in this luxurious yet comfortable and cosy cottage. Underfloor heating and a log burner means you'll be toasty and warm and a drying cupboard ensures you can dry out those muddy boots from a day's walking. The cottage has been equipped to a high standard with lots of home comforts to ensure your stay is as comfortable and luxurious as possible. Heavenfield is definitely not just a field, it’s a gorgeous spot to all that visit and a place that is extra special to us as we got married in St Oswald's Church in our very own field, 16 years ago today!
We're definitely older, perhaps a little bit wiser but still very happy that we're negotiating this funny old world with its many ups and downs together!

📍Greenlee Lough

The Greenlee Lough Circular Walk is a delightful 4 mile loop that sits within Northumberland National Park near to Hadrian’s Wall.

Starting near Steel Rigg car park this moderately challenging trail takes you through diverse terrains, including open fell, woodland edges and wetland boardwalks. Early in the walk you'll cross the charming Caw Burn via a humpback bridge before heading gently towards Gibbs Hill Farm. As you follow the route you’ll be led to a specially constructed boardwalk designed to protect the delicate wetland ecosystem.

Greenlee Lough is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. The shallow waters and surrounding wetlands support a rich tapestry of flora and fauna, including various species of pondweed, reed beds and marsh plants like bog bean and marsh cinquefoil. Birdwatchers can delight in sightings of wildfowl and wading birds, while the area also provides habitat for the native white-clawed crayfish. This is a perfect walk for spotting wildlife whilst enjoying gorgeous views.

The cottage sits very uniquely on top of Hadrian’s Wall itself and offers luxury 5 star self catering accommodation for two.
