We don’t normally ask, but if any of our followers is an animal lover. This charity does amazing work and has a no put to sleep policy. They desperately need funds to continue to do their tireless work.
Please help in anyway you can 🙏
💔‼️WE ARE CLOSED TO INTAKES ‼️💔
WE ARE STRUGGLING FINANCIALLY- that means we cannot save anymore lives. Please read.
As a long standing rescue which was founded 18 years ago, we have never seen such a crisis that we in are right now. We need funds, we cannot save anymore lives. The amount of dogs needing us is staggering, constant calls and messages from people begging us to take dogs, dogs with bite histories, anxiety issues, fear reactive, they want them to have sanctuary here, which we cannot do anymore of. How can we save lives with no funds? We cannot. Just as we are writing this now we’ve had another 3 calls with dogs in desperate need of our help… what have we had to say? I’m sorry we cannot save them.
We have the dogs here who live at freedom farm permanently for various individual reasons, these dogs were once the dogs that people begged us to save, owners that promised they would support them if we kept them, dogs that were being passed from one unsuitable placement to another, we stepped in time and time again but now they are forgotten they are seen as safe and no longer needing help, yes they are safe and we do absolutely everything with them at the top of priority but they still need money spent on them, vets bills, food, all the hidden costs… heating which is on all winter, the farm costs thousands to run.. it’s everything even down to the fire safety equipment which has to be serviced, the alarms, the maintenance it’s out of control. How can we survive with such a lack of funds?
We are a rescue that operates with passion, dedication, transparency and a strong protective bond to our charity. We have sanctuary dogs as we DONT WANT TO EUTHANISE, we don’t want to be that place that is seen to have dogs disappear .. dogs that have no quality of life, dogs that are pts because they don’t fit the grade for adoption. We are the only place in our area that doesn’t euthanise “un-rehomable” dogs..
We won’t be like that but we need help to be able to be the rescue that we are.
We can’t believe that after 18 years we aren’t in a position where we don’t have to beg you all for help, please believe we are so sorry and also very grateful to those that do support us. We are not you’re “average” rescue, we’re a place that doesn’t discriminate and do not pts because of a dogs “issues” (always making sure their welfare needs are met)
The cruelty and neglect cases is at an all time high, dogs like Edna that we now have to say we’re sorry we can’t save you.. how can we when we won’t be able to pay their vet’s bill? It’s irresponsible for any rescue to continue to take dogs when you can’t give them the medical attention they need. It breaks us when we have to say no to the dogs that we know we can fix, we can fix the trauma, the suffering and give them a happy safe life.. but we can’t help them now. (We have one dog coming in June that we promised so shall honour that) for anyone else.. we’re sorry we can’t save you. We have a super high vets bill in the thousands that we need to clear you can contact them direct to donate for full transparency.
We continually try to do everything we can to generate what we need, it feels every time we do we’re met with a brick wall, people promise us they are going to do things then they don’t..it’s not us you let down.. it’s the dogs. We lost the shop that we opened in the new year, lost money and was met with no support with the people involved. We do everything for the animals, not us.
We are desperately forever trying, there’s improvements we want to do at the farm which we cannot due to lack of funds, we are applying for lots of grants but they are very hard to get as the demand for them is so high all over the uk, we need to get the vet clinic sorted as that is a huge benefit for the charity and then means no more high vets bills!
We have sleepless nights worrying, stressing, crying..desperate for a positive change to come. Surely after all these years our time is coming to be a more financially stable charity.. it’s a wish we are forever praying on.
There’s only one dog we have here that is supported by the previous owner.. many have promised us they will, they don’t. Many have promised to fundraise for us, they haven’t… but we have kept our promise and kept those dogs safe. We’re not trying to sound rude or offensive but we have to be honest and anyone that knows us knows we are most definitely that. It’s just extremely hurtful when those that make us promises don’t deliver. We have so many lives depending on us we have to be straight up with you everyone and shout for help. Please.
If you can do any fundraising for the charity then please do!! Any ideas you have go for it, the dogs need you.
It’s a sad fact that not having enough funds means dogs won’t be saved, it’s heartbreaking for us to admit but it’s the truth. Please donate if you can, direct to our vets, to the charity account, sign up to the lottery, set up a monthly donations, anything you can.
We’ve also noticed a lot of our social media engagement has dropped due to the algorithms which doesn’t help, so please share our posts as much as you can.
Thank you to you that always support us ❤️
those that have adopted please do consider long term supporting the place that you got your friend from, those that have begged us to take the dog we now care for please support the place that saved that life.
Rushton dog rescue NEEDS more support to continue to save.
Lives will be lost without us stepping in and that’s the sad reality we are now in.
