An impromptu visit down to the Port of Nigg this evening saw cruise ships and longships!
The beautiful Emerald Princess was making her escape, with laying pinball through the oil rigs. As she was leaving, she encountered the Draken Harald, which is being used for filming The Odyssey. Behind it, but not pictured was the filming boat, complete with camera on a boom at the front. By the time that arrived, I was so drenched that you could have wrung me out like a dishcloth!!

An unexpected event tonight! P&Os Britannia ended up docking at the Port of Nigg as there was a medical emergency on board. It’s the first time I’ve seen a cruise ship dock there (there were two in the 1970s which housed workers but they are long gone). Thanks to Fiona Maclean and Jack for letting me know.

Yesterday saw the arrival of our second cruise ship of the season at Invergordon, MS Renaissance. Thanks to Campbell of Fearn Antiques and Postcard Emporium for taking the photo for me!
This is a wee ship with an interesting background. I love her, she’s gorgeous!Formerly she was Holland America’s Maasdam, built in 1992. Now owned by the French cruise company Compagnie Francaise de Croiseres. This company has now come into the fold of the Ambassador Group, who own Ambience and Ambition.

So exciting! The first cruise ship of the year at Invergordon! Aidasol making her way from the entrance to the Cromarty Firth at the Port of Nigg to Invergordon.
It was lovely meeting this morning too.

I was over at Cromarty this afternoon. If you’ve ever been to Invergordon by ship, you’ll have come past this spot and travelled down by the oil rigs. Beautiful full moon!

If you’re watching Fun Loving Brits at Sea on Channel 5 (yes, I know, a load of rubbish but it’s got a cruise ship on it!!!), here’s pictures of the ship they use on the tv programme. She’s Regal Princess and she’s in Invergordon today!
Instead of having lunch with the cruise ship, Evie and I had ice cream with her!

I found a new spot in Invergordon to spot cruise ships! The lovely lady in today was Oceania Cruises Marina. She looked beautiful basking in the Scottish sunshine!

Overlooking the Port of Nigg at the Cromarty Firth where they are making wind turbines. In the last picture, the cruise ship Viking Venus is a tiny speck in the background as she visits Invergordon.
