So much breaking news here at The Cruise Room towers this morning! As indicated to you all yesterday Celebrity Cruises have some huge river news this morning and there's a lot to unpack from their press release! Here's the headlines for you....

Celebrity River Cruises launch initially sold out in just 6 minutes with 2 ships sailing in 2027 - Celebrity Compass & Celebrity Seeker! 10 ships were expected at that point!

This morning Celebrity have confirmed that TEN MORE will be ordered which means Celebrity River Cruises will have a fleet of 20 river ships in Europe by 2031! That's some statement!!!

Furthermore Celebrity have confirmed that 3 ships will launch in 2028 - Celebrity Wanderer, Celebrity Roamer and Celebrity Boundless will all sail in Europe in 2028! This brings the fleet to 5 following Celebrity Seeker and Celebrity Compass. All ships at this point are expected to be the same.

These sailings will again focus on the Upper Danube and the Rhine though you will find 6 sailings taking in the Lower Danube which is really interesting - think an overnight onboard in Bucharest before cruising through the dramatic Iron Gates gorge – one of Europe's most breathtaking river passages! Other seasonal sailings such as Christmas Market sailings and Dutch Tulip Season cruises will also be possible!

Then the big news... over 160 European river cruise itineraries for 2028 are now on sale!!

Something to look forward to in early 2026 as Celebrity Cruises revealed recently that the next batch of river cruise sailings will go on sale late January 2026!

Now, at this point we don’t know how many new sailings, how many new ships will go on sale or whether we may get another river to choose from…

Anyone mind if we have a lie down in this room please? It's been a busy morning but not as busy as the team at Celebrity Cruises will have been as Celebrity River Cruises finally went on general sale somewhere around midday. That team must be worn out and it's only 3pm!!!!

We can see all sailings in August, September and October 2027 are now sold out with availability reducing on November and December sailings in front of our eyes!

Suites are sold out as it stands on all sailings!

Now, if you wanted to get onboard for 1 of those first 33 sailings please do not panic just yet. Some of these staterooms / suites may have been taken on an option basis and in coming days if not actually confirmed 1 or 2 may pop up again... we suspect most have confirmed but lets not lose hope!

Well, this came around fast! Celebrity Cruises have announced today that they will release all remaining sailings of the launch season of Celebrity Compass and Celebrity Seeker tomorrow - Thursday 25th September! Although the on sale time has not been confirmed yet, word today suggests it's going to be somewhere around 10am (don't be surprised if this changes to in and around the US market opening times)

Here are the facts as we know them about what's going on sale:

πŸ’™ There are 2 ships - Celebrity Compass & Celebrity Seeker

🧑 There are 33 sailings - the first sailing is on Celebrity Compass on the 5th August 2027 (see image below for all sailing dates). The first Celebrity Seeker sailing will be on the 21st October 2027!

πŸ’™ Itineraries focus on the Danube & the Rhine but with ports of call such as Tulln in Austria and Gonyu in Hungary which is great! Variety is always a good thing!

🧑 The lowest priced River View Rooms start at £2099pp on select sailings (The Cruise Room pricing).

πŸ’™ The lowest priced Infinite Balcony Rooms start at Β£2949pp on select sailings (The Cruise Room pricing).

🧑 Deposits are set to be 10% payable at time of booking!

πŸ’™ REMEMBER The general sale will include all remaining staterooms that have not been sold as part of the advance sale from a couple of weeks ago that sold out in just 6 minutes.... we don't know what staterooms or how many staterooms are available at this point but there will be HUGE demand! Hands up who's studied the deck plans over and over and over again?? Here is your anticipated deck plan for Celebrity Compass and Celebrity Seeker.

While it shows a lot we think there's still some blank or unmarked spaces for 1 or 2 surprises... the label Sunset Park does nothing to highlight the beauty of the top deck complete with cantilevered dining pods!

We can also see just how many of each room type there will be - for example just 4 of the Skylight Infinite Balcony Suites and the deck plan would suggest these will not be overlooked, may even be reflective so no-one can see in anyway... we suspect these are likely to be the most popular category with all that extra light coming into your suite!

We've been waiting on this day for a long long time... today's the day Celebrity Cruises released their first images of their new river cruise ships and there's a lot to go through which we'll do in posts over coming days...

For now, we just want you to get a feel for the ship - doesn't it look extraordinary and yes, this is a river cruise ship! We now know that Celebrity's 2 new ships which will set sail in 2027 will be called Celebrity Compass & Celebrity Seeker!

These guests will carry 172 guests on the Danube & the Rhine with the first sailing taking place in August. All 33 sailings that are being released will be 7 nights long.

There are lots of Celebrity Edge Class touches with venues like Cafe Al Bacio, Martini Bar & Sunset Bar all making an appearance too! Infinite Veranda's are a feature with some staterooms featuring those, taking inspiration from Celebrity Edge Class ships which themselves took inspiration from the river so it's all come full circle. There are several other room types including more typical balconies and even skylight rooms too which is something new!

We'll share over the coming hours and days but for now... we finally get a glimpse of what the future of Celebrity River Cruises looks like and it's very very exciting!

Wednesday is a big day for anyone waiting for more information about Celebrity Cruises River Cruises! On Wednesday you can register for your place on one of those maiden voyages in 2027 and you will receive an e-brochure of itineraries, dates and pricing!

This is a race for space as this exciting new river cruise brand will open worldwide on Wednesday and let’s not forget with maybe 150 guests per voyage and just 2 ships on the rivers… all it needs is a book group or wine group to book a voyage and it will be gone…

So registration is important to give yourself the option to then turn your registration into a booking on the 10th September … here’s all the details you need:

πŸ”· Registration will open on Wednesday 3rd September at 2pm.

πŸ”· You register by paying Β£400 / €450 / $500. This is your deposit. It IS fully refundable if you decide not to convert into a booking which is good.

πŸ”· Once we have you registered your agent will receive an e-brochure to give you. We believe this e-brochure will have dates, itineraries, stateroom types and some pricing.

πŸ”· If you see something you like you let your agent know by the 9th September.

πŸ”· Effectively you have a week to make your decision because Celebrity will contact your agent on the 10th September in order to find out what you want to book and then they will convert your deposit into a full booking!

πŸ”· If you do not go through this process then you'll need to wait until general sale which will be later on this year. We think it will be a little while and of course if thousands have already booked then you’ll be left with what’s left for that first season!

πŸ”· There are just 2 ships going on sale in 2027! 1 ship will do the Danube, 1 ship will do the Rhine.

πŸ”· We are not expecting the ebrochure to tell us specific things about the ships; there will be a 'leap' of faith to some degree and you're securing your place onboard to be able to say you're one of the very first to step onboard a Celebrity river cruise!

Listening to team Celebrity we do think there will be big demand for this product - not least from the U.S. market. We do need to remember that river ships are only going to be something like 150 guests (not confirmed) per sailing so as we say a medium size group can take up an entire sailing. Entry level staterooms and top suites will be the first to go - it’s always like this with a new ship or launch!!

We've all been waiting for more news since Celebrity Cruises announced their entry into the River Cruise market with the first sailings set to take place in 2027!

Now, Celebrity have confirmed that guests will be able to place a fully refundable deposit on the 3rd September which will mean you "will receive early access to book a 2027 sailing ahead of the general public and be among the first to receive the highly anticipated itinerary and stateroom details."

β€œWe are excited to offer guests the chance to experience the first-ever Celebrity River Cruises vacations in 2027 with Priority Booking Access,” shares Laura Hodges Bethge, president of Celebrity Cruises. β€œGuests will enjoy the warm hospitality Celebrity is known for, on innovative ships, with land experiences unlike any other, as we set sail on Europe’s iconic Danube and Rhine rivers.”

Guests will explore historic cities aboard Celebrity's fleet of transformative river ships that blend the elevated design and sophistication of Edge Series ocean ships with European charm. Discover the Danube and Rhine with Celebrity River Cruises fares inclusive of all meals, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, Wi-Fi, onboard experiences and one shore excursion each day. Guests will also have the option to add a pre- or post-cruise stay in Prague and Budapest when they open for booking in 2026.
