If you're looking at October and thinking, “I just want one more week of proper warmth before winter,” there are some really good options to consider.

But this is where I’d always want to know a little more before telling you where I think you should go.

For example, I love Crete as an October option if you want to combine some downtime with getting out and exploring. Chania gives you beautiful surroundings, plenty of places to eat and wander, and the option to see much more of the island if you want to.

If your priority is more along the lines of “I want to lie down, feel the heat and properly switch off”, I might start looking further towards somewhere like Sharm El Sheikh, particularly if warmer temperatures are high on your list.

But I wouldn't automatically recommend either of those to everybody.

When in October are you travelling? Are you tied to the school half-term dates? Who's coming with you? How warm do you actually want it to be? Do you want a beach and a book for seven days, or will you be itching to get out and explore after day two?

Those answers can completely change where I'd suggest.

That's the benefit of having a Travel Consultant rather than simply searching “where's hot in October?”

I'm currently enjoying a Celebrity cruise myself, but that doesn't mean I'd automatically recommend the same cruise experience to you.

That's one of the things I love about cruising, there are so many different ways to do it.

You might love the idea of waking up somewhere new, seeing several destinations in one trip and having everything you need waiting for you back on board… but still think a more traditional style of cruising isn't quite you.

And that's where something like Virgin Voyages might be worth a look.

It's adults-only, there's a much more flexible approach to dining, you won't find traditional formal nights, and the whole experience has been designed to feel a little different from what you might picture when you first think of a cruise.

Does that automatically mean it's the right cruise for you? Not necessarily.

I’ve been to St Maarten many times, so today was all about enjoying some of my favourite spots rather than trying to see it all.

A chilled day at beautiful 𝐒𝐭 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡, with a visit to 𝐌𝐚𝐡𝐨 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 to watch those incredible aircraft coming in ridiculously low over the beach! ✈️

And of course, I couldn’t resist a few sneaky shops before heading back — especially with all those 𝐝𝐮𝐭𝐲-𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐣𝐞𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐬 for anyone who loves a bit of sparkle! 💎

Then it was back to the beautiful 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 for another evening on board.
