Name: Ian Birch

How long have you been a driver?
I passed my coach driving test in 1991 but was working in the industry as a mechanic before that. I started driving coaches in 1990 at the age of 17, and have been driving coaches for 35 years.

Where are you most looking forward to travelling?
I love going to mountainous and lakes areas such as Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Norway and many others.

What is your favourite UK destination?
Favourite UK place would have to be either the lake district or Scotland for the scenery again!

What’s your favourite thing to do on your days off?
On my days off I try to do as little as possible to spend time with my family as well as getting my clothes ready for the next tour.

What made you want to get into this industry?
I got into the industry because my dad was also a driver so I grew up going all over the place with him, and enjoyed the fact you could visit lots of different places. Even if you'd never thought of going on your own holiday, how many jobs are there where you meet lots of different people taking them to different destinations and hopefully enhance their holiday whilst enjoying yourself at the same time!

Your go to snack on a service station stop off?
I try not to go into motorway service areas but if I have to I'm afraid to say that a Greggs bacon and sausage cob is my go to if I have the time to get anything!
