With the Glorious Twelfth upon us, we wanted to highlight a recent report published by the Angus Glens Moorland Group & Scottish Land & Estates which demonstrates the positive impact that grouse shooting can have on rural communities and economies

Key findings include:

➡️ Seven estates in the Angus Glens contributed £6.6 million to the economy in 2025
➡️Of the £6.6m, £3.66m was spent on employment costs, providing 86 full-time and 768 seasonal jobs and 68 homes in rural areas
➡️£2.94m was spent on contractors, goods and services, 82.5% of which was with local businesses
➡️ The estates invested £114,087 in track maintenance, allowing the Angus Glens to be utilised as a shared landscape for a variety of communities, organisations and individuals
➡️ The careful management of habitats allowed for an abundance of key species to thrive, including Curlew, Black Grouse, Skylark, Lapwing and Oystercatcher
➡️The estates hosted 84 grouse days during the 2025 season, which required on average 54 seasonal employees per day, per estate, showcasing how grouse shooting plays a central role in sustaining rural communities

Celebrating 50 years of sporting excellence 🥂

Last month we celebrated 50yrs since our sporting agency was established with an exclusive drinks party at 116 Pall Mall, London

Despite the June heatwave causing widespread travel disruption, guests travelled as far as Scotland and Spain to show their support for five decades of successfully organising successful shooting and fishing trips around the world

We are incredibly grateful to Schöffel Country, Eley Hawk-Ltd, BERETTA, Ian Coley Sporting, Foxdenton Estate and Bailey Robinson Luxury Travel for donating gifts for our gift bags on the night

We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who has been a part of the Roxtons history over the last 50yrs, including our clients, estate and lodge owners, suppliers, supporters and our dedicated team

Roxtons are delighted to hear that our auction lot supporting the GWCT West of Scotland Dinner & Auction in March helped them to raise over £141,000 for the charity

Roxtons Director of Shooting John Duncan was in attendance on the evening and is looking forward to hosting the winning bidder, whose auction lot includes a 250 bird driven partridge day at Newlands Estate

All the money raised in Scotland will stay in Scotland and will enable the GWCT to continue with its valuable research, which helps to enhance and protect the countryside
