It’s finally here! Today is the start of GCSE exams for thousands of teens across the country. I don’t know about anyone else but it feels like our teenager has been working up to the next 5 weeks for forever and has completed hundreds of mock exams and passed papers. It’s been a very long journey and from my hazy recollection feels like a different league from the exams I completed a million years ago. For me the results will be the results and I am never focused on the final grade. To coin a phrase……it’s all about the journey and that is true for our son. For the first time I have seen him take total ownership for the outcome. He had a very clear goal in mind, to secure a place at the 6th form college he really wants to attend in September. It’s motivated him to focus, work hard and put in the hours of revision knowing that securing what he wants is completely down to him. Not doing any work will almost certainly guarantee the outcome but by putting in the work he is doing everything he can to reach his goal and the rest will be in the hands of the exam gods. So to everyone who has teens heading out today for the first of many exams I’m sending you positive vibes and a reminder to all, the finish line is in sight. You’ve got this 👊🏻

Today was the last in person support day for my awesome client Cogna. Our working relationship started virtually but as the business grew so did the need for agile and flexible business support and that is exactly what I am able to provide. I love being a small part of all my clients business journeys, supporting them through periods of transition and growth. It’s why I do what I do. So, so long London it’s been a blast and I am sure I will be seeing you again soon

On I am reminded of the words a wise person once shared with me - choose your attitude everyday - and how right they were. The power of positivity in a world that is increasingly full of negativity, hate and anger must not be forgotten. A smile costs nothing but can mean everything to someone having a tough day. Running your own business is not easy but surround yourself with people who lift you up with a smile each day and you can achieve your dreams. So here’s a shout out (and smile) to all the amazing woman bossing their own business journeys 👊🏻

When you run your own business it can be very easy to forget how important it is to prioritise down time. Holiday pay is no longer part of your vocabulary and you feel like you have to say yes to everything and always be on call. But just like when you were employed having time away from work is so important to rest and recharge so you can perform at your best. Fun fact I was born on the Isle of Wight so this weekend we are visiting family which always feels like a ‘proper’ holiday when you have to travel on the ferry. For years I got away with the classic mum joke of asking the kids if they remembered their passport for the trip………these days they are far to grown up to fall for it 🤣 Happy Half Term Everyone!
