Happy Solstice! What a marvellous evening just down the hill to next door for a solstice party (Swedish Midsummer themed) with the locals and a few of their friends from farther away. What a sunset we were graced with.

We love a National XX (insert topic) Day😂 And I've just found out that 2 days ago it was National Jane Day. So although I'm late, I'm taking it. 🤣😍 What a lovely day dog walking, swimming, making elderflower cordial, gardening with friends who came to visit, and sharing a beer in the sun. Here's a photo of the girls, just because 🥰

We've had a lot of lovely dog walks over the last few weeks. Some places right from the door, others very nearby like Reelig and Abriachan and a few others a wee adventure out. Here's a small selection for our Sunday evening viewing.

One of the local drives we recommend to guests, and a super place to walk, is into Strathfarrar, about 30 mins from us and just up the road from Beauly. Emma and I took a nice out and back walk in the sun earlier this week, a wee 7 miler, with lots of river and water spots for her to swim in and cool down. There are numerous mountains to walk in this glen, if that's your thing too! Entry to Strathfarrar is via a locked gate, although you can park in the car park outside and walk, cycle in, at any time. But if you choose to drive through the glen (which is a 17 mile drive to the end), then you need to look at the access times when the lovely lady in the gatehouse will let you in. Just don't miss the last time for getting out, or you'll be locked in overnight haha.

6 doggies to visit recently, with 2 families. They all seemed to enjoy the enclosed and private garden, and the view. And some local walks too by the looks of it!
Dogs come for free when visiting Pinewood - there's no extra charge. And we love to welcome them with some special treats.
And we have lots of doggy items available in case you forget to bring anything, like leads, bowls, collars, towels etc.

When a guest leaves a review which is a 'Geotrain' - ever heard of that? It's basically a 'poem' when the number of syllables in each line gives a string of 6 digits which together provide co-ordinates in degrees, minutes and seconds (which maps against our location). Make sense? Very clever. This was the night of the awesome aurora (seen by the naked eye) and the first time seen by our guest.

Last night, from the garden, we were treated to an amazing show of the northern lights, with the naked eye. She hadn't popped that well with just the eye for a while, so it was very special sharing it with our guest. As always, the camera picks up way more colour but the vividness of the camera colours shows how better than normal it was with the naked eye

13 years ago today, this bundle of love and energy came into our lives from The Dogs Trust, after being 'unwanted' for 6 months, one of the longest stayers at their charity in Evesham. She was at least 2 years old they said... so Emma is at least 15 years old. She may be deaf, and she puts up with adopted sister Mina, but she's still climbing Munros, jumping ditches, enjoying tricks and running wild. Wouldn't change a thing... Love you Emma!
