Joseph stayed with us over last weekend (having come with friends the weekend before, he loved it so much he brought his dad back a week later!), then picked up a boat to sail down the Loch. As he was passing today he took some lovely pictures which he shared with us. It’s not often we get to see the whole house from the front! 📷

A couple of other furry friends you might meet during your stay! Skye & Solo are very friendly cats who love to say hi, especially if you’re on the beach. Don’t fall for the sad faces through the glass if you’re in the house! They live outside (well, on luxurious sheepskin beds on hot water tanks in the boiler shed!) and are fed very well!

😍 Alpacas have sweat glands on each leg, so standing in cool water brings their core temperature down nicely.

The Aurora came out to play tonight. As always, the camera picks up more than the eye. There was a feint green glow visible to the eye, but the camera shows more of the spectacle. Always makes me wonder if animals see more or less than we do…

Every winter, the rain and snow melt cause the loch levels to rise. Storms bring huge amounts of driftwood and logs (and plastic rubbish 😢) on to our beach. So every spring there’s a big clean up operation, picking up wood, raking the pebbles back where they came from, and re-digging the fire pit. Now we just need the weather to enjoy it!! 🌞

We have been busy bees since Christmas, converting one of our rooms in to a cosy and comfortable living / dining / kitchen space for self catering at Balachladaich. Still a few finishing touches to be added, but we’re delighted to be able to show you what we’ve done so far…

It’s been a beautiful bright but cold day at Balachladaich. Perfect for tackling the huge area of beach and garden that we have to maintain. Views like this at the end of a long day of digging, pulling and chopping make it all worth while 🌅 bookings are now coming in thick and fast, so don’t miss out on this view. Not one to sit still over the festive break, I’ve been busy designing a new logo and building a new website for our change to a self catering accommodation. Both went ‘live’ today and we’re only a week in to 2025, so I’m feeling quite accomplished 🤣 The website is up and we are taking bookings for self catering breaks in 2025.
