Day Two: ✨️ Our very own Odyssey! 🌊⛵️ along the Banff & Buchan coast ✨️

We travelled a long way from home to visit an ancient castle perched on a cliff miles from anywhere! Last year Hollywood movie star Matt Damon came here to film 🎥 scenes from the movie, The Odyssey. We didn't quite make it down into the castle, too dangerous, instead we decided to have delicious, home-made ice-cream from Portsoy 🍦Portsoy Ice Cream

A few more miles along the coast we arrived at a very isolated fishing village where we had to leave the car at the top of the cliff and walk down into the village. The locals use large wooden wheel barrows to bring their supplies to their homes.

From California to Craigievar! 😎🇺🇸🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Day one: My American friend is back on home soil ready to explore the amazing sights and delights of the North-East of Scotland! We kept our first day very eco-friendly 👍😊🌿🍃

✅️ Craigievar Castle - visit and exploring the lovely grounds -conservation & biodiversity of housemartins, bats & insects

✅️ Tomnaverie Stone Circle - enjoying 4,500 year old standing stones

✅️ Muir of Dinnet Nature Reserve - hiking & immersing ourselves in nature VisitCairngorms

✅️ Fish Shop 🐟 Ballater. Delicious lunch from one of the most sustainable restaurants in UK 😋

✅️ Royal Lochnagar Distillery - good local malt whisky on our doorstep 🥃

✅️ Stonehaven - return to environmentally-friendly accommodation in Dunnottar Woods

Day Three: From the Highlands to the Lowlands! 👌😀

The view from my B&B in Fort William was AMAZING 👏 I woke up to views of the majestic Ben Nevis. Wow! (pic 4) My landlady said she could count on her hands how many dry days they had this year in Fort William! ..so we were SO fortunate to see the top of Ben Nevis ⛰️

Driving through Glencoe was also spectacular scenery ⛰️ and later we arrived in Callander to find a delicious bakery Mhor Bread where the queues were out the door, down the street! 😋

We had one more Castle to see before my guests departed from Edinburgh Airport. Doune Castle was a real hit as my guests were huge fans of the movie, 'Monty Python & the Holy Grail' which was filmed 🎥 there. A great end to their amazing tour of the Highlands! 😀

Haste ye back, Lynn and Dan, we had such fun touring Scotland together, finding some hidden gems and sampling great Scottish food 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Day Two: Great fun in the Great Glen of Scotland! 😎
Our surprise find of the day was Glengarry Castle Hotel! Glengarry Castle Hotel What a hidden gem! Calm and serene amongst the mayhem of Loch Ness and Fort Augustus!! Passed it a million times before, but never had the chance to go in. It's like stepping back in time! And the homemade food was delicious. 😋

Feeling relaxed and calm, we had to press on to Glenfinnan to get photos of the Harry Potter steam train on the viaduct. My guests got fab photos and videos, unlike me! They enjoyed their stay in the charming Victorian Glenfinnan House Hotel 😊👌Glenfinnan House Hotel , a perfect end to their day!

We're in the Scottish Highlands!! Yeahhh!! 😀👌

Day one of our Highland Adventure has gone really well. I picked up my lovely guests from a cruise ship 🚢 in Aberdeen. Came over the mountains ⛰️ and once we arrived in Inverness-shire we came across the biggest Hairy cows 🐄 I have ever seen and their horns were huge! What a sight and they were so friendly, it made my guests' day!!
