Oooh, we're not very good at this Facebook malarkey are we?

Seems we post about once a year!

Well, here's this year's post...

Yesterday we upgraded our Broadband service to 1 Gigabit.

If that doesn't mean much to you, it's really, really, REALLY fast.

Especially when we've only got 14 bedrooms, so there's plenty to go around.

We also upgraded our Mesh Network (fancy signal boosters to the non techies amongst us) so that literally every corner of the building gets blistering speed.

We ran speed tests in every room today, and got between 250-400mbps (and that top end was limited by my phone capability).

"Oh my - what a great find! We booked the house for a surprise 90th birthday weekend for mum and all our family. The house was perfect! Kitchen had everything, rooms were perfect and Martin responded quickly to my endless questions! It was a great location and I think we’ll be back"

We hosted a LARPS (Live Action Role Play) weekend back in March 23, and the organisers of that are re-running it next weekend here at Lattice Lodge.

Back in March, we posted about a new (to us) type of Exclusive Use hire - a LARPS Group (Live Action Role Play).

Well, their weekend was obviously a great success, as they've just booked another TWO weekends with us, in December 23 and January 24!

At the moment, we're accommodating a film crew who are working at Bentwaters, tomorrow we have a group of teachers arriving to brainstorm the role of AI in their sector, next week we have a ballet company staying who are developing their work at DanceEast, followed closely by a large family hire for a weeks holiday.

Apparently, today is National Cheeseball Day!

Which should be enough excitement for a Monday, but in case cheese just isn't your thing... in other news; Lattice Lodge is getting a bit of a spruce up on the outside this week.

The team have arrived with all their gear, along with a beautiful blue sky - we are looking forward to seeing the house looking all sparkly in the sunshine! 🌞

Many thanks to the team at Insight Energy for installing our 2 new Easee 7kw Type 2 untethered EV chargers yesterday.

This was a slightly complex installation, for a couple of reasons.

First, we operate on a 100amp single phase supply, so dynamic load balancing with the house is vital. We can't have the main fuse popping when there are cars charging, and we have the laundry machines and ovens running. The Easee Equaliser handles this for us.

Second, we have solar panels and 'house' batteries, and we don't want EV charging to deplete the house batteries. This was achieved by the system design and placing a CT clamp such that the 'house' batteries don't see the EV charger load.

Although the EV Chargers are primarily for our own (we run an EV for the business) and guest's use, they can be used by the general public during the day.

So you probably know what being 'up with the lark' means.... but what about being up with the LARPs?

Curious? 🤔 Yes, us too! Well just in case you didn't already know, and to save you the trouble of Googling it... it stands for Live Action Role Play, and we know this because Lattice Lodge had the pleasure of hosting a lovely group of LARPers at the weekend.

It's a type of role-playing game in which participants physically act out scenarios, typically using costumes and props. Lattice Lodge has been used for many different purposes, occasions, and groups over the years, but we think this was the first time it was used to run a LARP weekend - and, we really hope it won't be the last!

Having a large extended family in the school holidays can sometimes be, let's say 'problematic', when all you want is to get everyone in the same place for some quality time together 😫😤😭.

First of all finding a property large enough to accommodate everyone; in the right configuration of bedrooms, with sufficient self-catering facilities, and room to sit down for meals... and then to be in a central location (with easy access to a variety of amenities), ample parking, free super-fast WIFI etc etc... but to also have the little extra's like a private garden with lots of seating areas, as well as a separate lounge and conservatory too... impossible, yes?

No!

Lattice Lodge is ideal for large group self-catering breaks with everything you need for a comfortable stay whether you want to hang around the house and play games, or head out to the seaside for the day.

We can cater for up to 29 people in 14 ensuite bedrooms, and prices start from £32pppn (based on upto 22 people sharing 11 rooms on a 4 night midweek stay).

Ipswich is currently looking very colourful, with 50 big owls (and lots of little ones) dotted about various location across town. They are all waiting patiently to be discovered and photographed (no camouflage or stalking skills required) 🦉
The Big Hoot Ipswich 2022 is raising funds for the St Elizabeth Hospice and will run until 3rd September. The owls will then be auctioned off to their forever homes on the 15th September.

Since we've had our solar panels installed, we've saved the equivalent of 12 trees worth of CO2 from the environment. That's almost one 🌳 a week! (For those that don't use trees as a unit of measure...then it's also just over 1 ton of CO2 😉)

And as we're also now running an electric vehicle, which on some days is 100% charged by the 🌞, we are double happy with our investment!

Never ever have we wished more for blue skies and sunshine! 😎
