Hi I'm Lisa - Business Development Manager for GoCruise & Travel.
We are always looking at new ideas and ways of supporting our Franchisees and their businesses and yesterday was an example of this. Please feel free to read my account below of attending the 2025 event.
Am I feeling empowered? Absolutely YES!
Yesterday I had the absolute pleasure and honor of attending the British Franchise Associations (BFA) ‘ Empowering Women in Business 2025’ event at The West Midlands Safari Park.
To say I felt privileged was an understatement …. To be in the company of such dedicated, professional women (and may I say there were men too), gave me the real feel of just how lucky and recognized we are in leading successful businesses across the country. The whole day saw sheer happiness, positivity, and determination.
The guest speakers were incredible I learnt so much from them with so much to takeaway.
Carys Jukes - wonderful lady with a such a heartfelt story and positivity.
My takeaway ‘Be you and don’t hide away, success = happiness ’
Katie Chapman - inspiration to women especially in sport where it can be hard to be a pro and raise a family. My takeaway ‘If you want it badly you will make it happen’
Nikki Senior - Inspiring lady with a superpower in business growth, introduced us to Mindset and took part in activities such as the wheel of life and 4x4 goal setting, interesting finding out your results and setting goals and values. My takeaway ‘Mindset is the lens through which we see the world’
Rachel Haslem - Fantastic keeping the audience engaged with so much interaction and valuable information on the ‘skill and will’, never knew so much about D1,2,3 and 4’s … love it! My takeaway …‘One size does not fit all’
Professor Tanya Byron - Absolutely blew me away on how the brain processes stress and what happens at tipping point … thoroughly enjoyed the session. My takeaway ‘You don’t have to believe everything you think’
Emma Henderson MBE - With my love of aviation , a lengthy career in the Travel Industry and a BDM for ‘GoCruise andTravel’ this was a perfect round off to day. Emma told us her story of being a female pilot for Easyjet. She really got into the depths of trust and decision making and just how important it is gaining trust very early in.. She introduced us to the T-DODAR for decision making which is something I will not only adopt in my career but in everyday life. My takeaway ‘Take a look at how you turn up
The Power of Women Panel – Top Tips I took away
‘You have earned your place at the table your voice is important so let people hear you’
‘Nothing is good or bad recognize all situations are neutral … It’s applying your own thoughts’
‘Set boundaries as you start out and protect your time and energy to increase productivity’
‘Have a growth mindset’
‘Have a plan and keep going back to it … don’t let it be a tool that you never get out of the drawer’
I would like to immensely thank the BFA and Pip Wilkins for everything that went in to such an informative and super encouraging day and I can’t wait for the new date to be released for next year.
One last thing before I go ’ Did you know that everyone starts development as a woman? If that’s not empowering what is 😊
