Last night we attended Trinity Scares in Ipswich for their opening night! The event has had a refresh for the 2025 season, transforming it from a linear route event to a multi attraction event.

The main tent is home to a stage which hosts various acts throughout the night. Along side this, there's a bar, games stalls and a rodeo pumpkin.
Outside of the tent is many food stalls, dodgems and marshmallow toasting.

All of the mazes branch off from the main hub area. Each of the mazes are around 20-25 minutes long making them a good length for individual attractions. The three attractions on offer are The Haunting, The Nightmare and The Cursed.
All three attractions utilise indoor space before thrusting you into outdoor portions and using smaller temporary buildings throughout.

The use of props is so unique to Trinity, we went down a slide, sat in a circus tent, got put in stocks, sat in teacups and had a wild ride in an elevator! Some of the set pieces are huge and so impressive.
The theming is awesome, ranging from Christmas (Christmas is October is a sin, but it featured krampus so its ok), a wild west town which was amazing and a whole circus themed tent.
The actors were amazing. They put everything they had into scaring us and we had an absolute blast with every character we met along the way.

The vibe and overall feel of Trinity was fantastic and you can see how much love has been poured into this event. It's wonderful Ipswich/Suffolk has something of this scale for Halloween.
Thank you to Jay and the team at Trinity Scares for hosting us. We had an amazing night and cannot wait to return again next year πŸŽƒ

DAY 10 🎒

Our half way park was Kings Island in Ohio. This is the sister park to King's Dominion and only 3 hours away from Cedar Point.

Honestly, this day was a nightmare. It was no fault of Kings Island, however we realised our day was going to be a challenge as soon as we stepped out of the car. Every 17 years, in certain parts of Ohio, Cicada bugs imerge from the ground in their millions for 1 month only. This sent us and most other people in the park into panic as they are absolutely huge! Luckily we didn't hit any bugs when riding the coasters.

Whilst trying to avoid the huge bugs, we got to experience Diamondback, which was to us, was a standard B&M hyper. Mystic Timbers, a GCI woody with some fun transitions. Flight of fear which is an indoor launch coaster. Although fun, it is a little painful in places. Orion which is a B&M giga, it was good fun in the back. The ride we were most looking forward to was The Beast and it didn't disappoint. We didn't get the infamous night ride but the ride we had in the day was incredible and can only imagine what it would be like in the dark!

Overall, we had a good day at Kings Island. The coasters were good and the park would've had a nice vibe albeit the Cicada bugs. We'll have to make a return visit, hopefully without the flying insects next time!

DAY 9 🌳

1st June and we thought we'd have a day off from the Theme parks! It's always been a dream of mine to visit Jamestown where Matoaka (Pocahontas) once called home.

We started in Jamestown Settlement, just a few miles from where the Powhatan tribe lived and where the British landed on the Virginia coast. There's a museum with some interesting information and artifacts found in Jamestown.
Outside is a recreation of the houses and community built by the British along with the houses built by the Powhatan living in 1600's.
There is also a replica of a British ship which would have been used to bring the British to Virginia.

We then went on to historic Jamestowne which also consisted of a museum. As we walked to the coastline we got to see exactly where the buildings of the British settlements were. Through archaeological digs, they've uncovered foundations for buildings used in the 1600's.

The two sites were so interesting and gave us a real insight into the lives of the people living in that time period. Its such a beautiful part of the US and we feel so lucky we got to experience it.

DAY 8 🎒

Sunday 31st May, we visited Busch Gardens Williamsburg for the very first time.
This stunning theme park is set in Virginia, nestled in the trees.
The first thing we noticed about the park is how enormous it is! We got lost so many times throughout the day just trying to find Griffon! That's what makes this park so incredible. Despite the vast size of the park, there's so many small walkways buried in amongst beautiful theming and world class rides and attractions.

We started the day with Big Bad Wolf. This is a love letter to BGW fans, replacing the old Big Bad Wolf which was an arrow suspended with a newer, shinier B&M family suspended model. We loved the dispatch audio and the theming. The other coaster we went on in the area was DarKoaster which surprised us. Its an indoor launched family coaster which has some great forces. We loved this coaster! Unfortunately we didn't get to experience Verbolten as it was closed for maintenance.

The park is split into themed areas which are inspired by different countries. Imagine bigger areas of world showcase at Epcot. The next few coasters we rode were Pantheon, Tempesto and Apollos Chariot. All of them are fantastic coasters each offering a completely different ride experience. Pantheon is an intamin launch, Tempesto is a Premier rides Skyrocket 2 and Apollos is a B&M hyper.

We then went to complete the rest of the coasters. The three notable attractions were Alpengeist, a B&M invert, Griffon, a B&M dive and Loch Ness, an arrow looper. Again all of them outstanding coasters. We particularly enjoyed Loch Ness for its legendary status within the Theme park community.

BGW offers so much more than just coasters. The food is great, we had some poutine which was delicious! There's some wonderful flat rides, water rides and shows on offer. We absolutely adored this park and would happily come back again in a heartbeat!

DAY 7 🎑

We rounded our first week in the USA with a trip to King's Dominion. It's sister park King's Island, coming later in the trip.

The main boulevard is surprisingly pretty with a scaled down replica of the Eiffel Tower at the end of the street. The pathways host a variety of European style shops and there's a central lake where you can watch a fountain show.

The Park itself isn't what we would call a 'Theme Park' but more of an amusement park. Although with the addition of Rapterra, Tumbili and the retheme of I305 creating the Jungle X-Pedition area, it seems the Cedar Fair chain is investing in a more immersive experience for guests.
This park is a mecca for Coaster enthusiasts, it's home to 13 coasters.

We started our day on Dominator which is a B&M sit down located towards the front of the park. We personally found it one of the weaker B&M sit downs we have done but it does have some great elements.
Twisted Timbers is a fantastic mid sized RMC. It offers plenty of airtime and packs all the punch of one of the bigger scale RMC's.
Grizzly and Racer 75 are both fantastic wooden coasters. They have some incredible pacing and have none of rattle you find on some older woodies. We especially loved the surprise of Grizzly as you can't see the coaster from anywhere in the Park!
The final Coaster we will mention is Rapterra. The station is wonderful and the ride is so aesthetically pleasing off ride. Unfortunately, as with a lot of newer B&M wing coasters, the overall ride experience was uncomfortable. There was a significant bounce when we rode it, we're just hoping this can be rectified as it has so much potential.
Unfortunately we didn't get to ride on Pantherian, so we didn't get to experience what many enthusiasts say is the most intense ride in the world.

Overall, we really enjoyed our day at King's Dominion. It has some fantastic Coasters and a good atmosphere. We hope to come back at some point to experience the legendary Pantherian!

DAY 6 🎒

Day 6 of our huge USA road trip was a day at Carowinds in North/South Carolina. There was one reason this park was on pur bucket list and that was Fury 325!

We started the day straddling the border between North and South Carolina which is the most unique entrance we've ever experienced at a Park.

We headed straight for the Giga Coaster, Fury 325. We were fortunate and got to ride this mammoth coaster 3 times before the park opened fully. Twice in the back and once in the front. You can certainly feel the whip in the back but the front is insane! The amount of velocity and speed you feel in the front is incredible, firmly getting this coaster into our top 10!

After our 30 minutes on Fury, we went around the rest of the park jumping from coaster to coaster. This park has a lot of creds and we were determined to get them all.

Some stand outs were Afterburn with it's very intense layout, Copperhead Strike with it's amazing airtime moments and hangtime and the new Snoopy coaster was actually so much fun!

We can't forget to mention the AMAZING Hurler which does absolutely nothing and we see why it has a notorious reputation πŸ˜‚

Overall, Carowinds is a fantastic park with some incredible rides. There are a few which let it down but it does cater to all ages, especially us thrill seekers. The weather was awful when we were there and we had a fantastic time so we can't wait to go back when the sun's shining to experience the Park and it's 325ft of perfection again!

DAY 5 πŸ§Ÿβ€β™‚οΈ

Day 5 took us to Atlanta to firstly check out the iconic skyline and to recreate the photo used in The Walking Dead. It was so surreal seeing the skyline right infront of us after first seeing it in TWD so many years ago.

We then moved on to the town of Senoia which was the primary filming location for The Walking Dead. This truly was like stepping onto the set of the TV series. We got to see the train tracks, Rick's house, Negan's prison, the pudding house, the wall of remembrance, Woodbury and so much more! We were in awe walking around and seeing these sights after watching them for so long on the TV. We popped into The Woodbury Shoppe which has some awesome merchandise and we even got to take home our own bit of Alexandria wall! Finally we ate at Nic and Norman's which is the restaurant owned by Greg Nicotero (TWD producer) and Norman Reedus (Daryl). It was decorated just to our liking and the food was incredible.

Our final stop of the day was a quick visit to Funspot Atlanta to check out ArieForce One. That's the only ride we got on as the weather was absolutely horrendous. What can we say about this ride that hasn't already been said. It's a small RMC but it packs one of the biggest punches. The stall is incredible, the elements are amazing and the bunny hills at the end are insanity. We just wish there wasn't rain pelting us in the face the whole time. We'd love to go back to this small amusement park with hopefully some better weather and to be able to enjoy some of the other rides on offer.

DAY 4 ⛰️

Our fourth day in the States consisted of relaxation and exploring. We stayed mainly around Gatlinburg and spent a little bit of time in Pigeon Forge. We stayed at Baymont on the river which gave us the most serene views of the river running through Gatlinburg. Waking up to a view of the Smokey Mountains was so dreamy and surreal.

Firstly, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge have heaps and heaps to offer and you would need at least a week to see it all. Unfortunately with limited time we could only concentrate on the must do's for us.
We started with The Skypark which is home to North Americas longest pedestrian suspension bridge. The gondola ride to the top was scary enough but getting on the bridge with only clear glass under your feet was on another level! The views are incredible looking down over Gatlinburg and sitting on a rocking chair overlooking the Smokey Mountains was a highlight of the whole trip.
One of us went to the Star Car museum next, whilst the other went to Ripleys Haunted House. The car museum was great with cars pulled straight from your favourite films. The Haunted Attraction could definitely do with some work. The outside lures you in, however the inside is quite lifeless and lacks interaction, audio and full theming throughout. I would skip this one.
We also went on Earthquake The Ride. This was a non negotiatable for me. The ride is just as janky on the inside as the facade and I loved it! It's certainly not worth the money to the average Jo but it is so charming and retro.
We took a look around the Village (a bundle of shops) which is gorgeous. The highstreet is lined with themed restaurants and quirky shops, it feels like a Holiday destination in the best way.

We moved down to Pigeon Forge which is the equivalent of the 192 in Orlando. A stretch of road consumed by elaborate gift shops, gigantic attractions and every food place you could ever wish for. We only stopped at The Island for a quick go on their spinner but the whole venue is lovely and we'd love to come back to explore more. There's shops, a flying theatre, rides, eateries, the list goes on. The final place on our agenda was the 200ft Drop tower with just a lap bar. It was amazing to experience this and feel terrified . I just wish the forces were better.

This area of Tennessee is incredible and we'd recommend a visit to anyone. If you want a relax, a thrill, to explore, it's all on your doorstep. When we revisit we would love to do a trail and hopefully bump into a bear!
