🌟Client review ~ TUI Blue Insula Alba Adults Only Crete 🇬🇷

Thankyou to my lovely clients for this great review of TUI Blue Insula Alba in Crete, celebrating a 40th birthday 🩷

‘Insula Alba was spectacular.

🛌The rooms were appropriately sized with a comfortable bed, and came with a TV mounted on the wall. Our room had a lovely private pool which we hardly ever left.

🌅There were plenty of sun loungers, some pointed towards the sea, which the resort overlooks, and others pointing towards the outdoor pool.

🥙Food and drink was 5 star. The options at the buffet were varied and everything was incredibly tasty, they also had nice vegetarian options. The Buffet restaurant was open 3 meals per day, with the snack bar open in-between in case you got hungry. Drinks were tasty and flowed freely, with staff always ready to top you up as soon as you were empty.

🎵The vibe at the resort was nice and chilled, evening activities ranged from silent discos, to saxophonists, to circus performers. Everyone had a great time.

💆‍♀️The spa facilities were great, they only booked small groups at a time. When we went it was just the two of us in the spa's pool, sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi, and the massage and facials we got were stellar.

🗺️The hotel offers lots of options for excursions, we went to the palace of knossos and to a nice market town on the other side of the island, both trips were reasonably priced and came with a local guide to show the group around.

My wife and I will definitely be going back!!

🇲🇽 A day in Jalatlaco, Oaxaca 🎨💀

Today was all about exploring Jalatlaco, one of Oaxaca’s most colourful and creative neighbourhoods — and definitely one to add to your list when visiting the city. ❤️

🎨 Wandering the cobbled streets discovering incredible street art and murals.

🖼️ Popping into small galleries and workshops and supporting local artists — I loved seeing the handmade lino prints, illustrations and gorgeous stationery.

💀 Watching the neighbourhood transform for Día de Mu***os, with skeletons, marigolds and decorations appearing everywhere.

🌈 Colourful papel picado hanging above the streets.

📸 And, of course, stopping far too often for photos!

This is what I love about exploring Oaxaca — there’s art, creativity and culture around practically every corner, and Jalatlaco has such a lovely local feel.

If you’re planning a trip to Oaxaca, make sure you leave time to simply wander away from the main sights and explore neighbourhoods like this. 🇲🇽❤️

🌟First few days in Oaxaca ~ Ixu Cat Cafe 🐈🐈‍⬛

We jumped on the scooter & took a trip into Oaxaca centro to visit the Ixu Cat Café - which finds new forever homes for local kitties 🩷

If you love cats, you gotta check this place out! It is incredibly heartwarming to see so many happy, healthy, and genuinely well-treated cats roaming freely and soaking up the sun😻

You can sit & have a coffee or lunch, there’s lots of vegan & vege options on the menu.

We went for a coffee & pan de Mu**to! ☕️

The way it works is, they'll take $100 (pesos) as an entrance fee. Then, when you order anything -- they'll subtract from that bill. If you spend over, you just pay the difference.

A great afternoon trip! 🙌

✈️ Flying Aeromexico ~ London Heathrow To Oaxaca 🇲🇽

I’m currently in beautiful Oaxaca having arrived here on Monday, so I thought I’d share my first-hand experience of flying Aeromexico from London Heathrow to Mexico City and then connecting onwards to Oaxaca.

📍London Heathrow → Mexico City
✈️Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner
⏱️ Flight time approximately 10½ hours
🕥 Departed London Heathrow on time at 10:30pm

✓ Onboard Experience

The overnight flight was comfortable and I really liked being able to see the food menu on the entertainment screen before the meal service.

🍽️ Dinner choices included:
• Cheese tortellini with tomato sauce
• Beef ragu with potato purée and vegetables
• Bread service
• Chocolate truffle cake for dessert

I chose the cheese tortellini which came with a starter, crackers, cheese and dessert.

🌅 Before landing, breakfast was served with a choice including a frittata or waffles(accompanied by fruit and yoghurt. I went for the waffles🧇🫠

✓ Connecting in Mexico City

I was a bit worried about my connection but it was very straight forward! I did have to collect my luggage & recheck it in but it was all clearly sign posted & airport staff were helpful.

Terminal 2 is relatively small and easy to navigate, with places to grab something to eat, have a coffee and relax while waiting for your onward flight.

✓ Mexico City → Oaxaca

⏱️ Flight time: around 1 hour 15 minutes
🕕 Departed at 6:00am & Flight was on time
☕ Coffee and a snack were served during the short flight

Now at this point I’d been travelling for 16 hours & was super tired….but I really wanted to stay awake for the views! 🌋🌅

Flying out of Mexico City as the sun was coming up gave me some incredible views across the mountains and volcanoes.

Watching the sunrise above the clouds with a coffee in hand, followed by those incredible volcano views, was a pretty special start to my trip.
