Did you know?

🦒Giraffes are the world's tallest mammals, reaching up to 5.5 metres (19 feet)! This allows them to reach food in treetops that other herbivores can't, giving them a unique foraging advantage.

🦒There are four distinct species of giraffe in Africa: the Masai, Northern, Reticulated, and Southern giraffe, each with their own unique characteristics and geographical distribution.

🦒Every giraffe has a completely unique pattern of spots. These beautiful markings aren't just for show; they also help with temperature regulation to release excess body heat.

🦒They have a unique "pacing" gait, moving both legs on one side of their body at once, which provides stability.

🦒Giraffes typically sleep standing up, allowing them to make a quick escape from predators if needed. They only sleep for short periods, usually around 30 minutes to 2 hours in a 24-hour period.

🦒Sadly, giraffe populations across Africa have declined significantly. Habitat loss, civil unrest, poaching and climate change are major threats. Conservation efforts are vital to protect these magnificent animals.
