❄️ WHAT LAPLAND TRIP IS BEST SUITED FOR ME? 🎅🏼

It seems everyone is planning ahead at the moment and one thing that keeps coming up is Lapland…

“I’d love to take the kids but I don’t know where to start.”

“I think my kids are too old now.”

“Do we go for the day or stay a few nights?”

So hopefully I can clear a few things up, because there are SO many ways to experience Lapland and it really isn’t one trip suits all.

❄️ LAPLAND IN A DAY

Yes, you can go to Lapland for the day. I’ve done it myself and it’s brilliant!

You get a taste of the magic and fit so much into those few hours — huskies, reindeer, snowmobiling, playing in the snow and of course, Santa. 🎅🏼

Who would I recommend a day trip for?

Those who have a stricter budget or simply can’t be away for a few nights, especially at such a busy time of year.

But there are also people I wouldn’t recommend a day trip to.

It’s a full-on day and your time in Lapland is limited. If someone in your party needs regular toilet breaks, struggles with the cold or just needs to take things at a slower pace, personally I’d look at staying longer. You want to enjoy it, not spend the day worrying about keeping up.

❄️ 2 NIGHTS OR LONGER

This gives you a much more relaxed experience.

You’ll still have a day packed with all those amazing Lapland experiences, but they’re generally longer and you can enjoy it knowing you haven’t got a flight home to catch that evening.

If you’re cold, stop and warm up with berry juice around an open fire. 🔥

And one of my favourite memories from our trip was finishing the day and carrying on sledging with the kids until the lamps went off. 😂🛷

Many trips also include a festive gala evening, which is a lovely way to finish it all.

❄️ WHAT IF MY KIDS ARE OLDER?

This is the one I hear ALL the time…

You have NOT missed your chance!

Lapland doesn’t have to revolve around Santa.

You can still do the huskies, reindeer rides, snowmobiling, Northern Lights and loads of other winter activities without visiting Santa at all.

There are trips aimed at older families, couples and even adults-only Lapland trips.

And if you fancy combining it with skiing, you can do that too. 🎿

That’s why when someone says to me “How much is Lapland?” it’s almost impossible to give one answer.

A day trip, a Santa break, a longer snowy escape, older kids, adults only, skiing… they’re all completely different trips.

Then you’ve got the different areas of Lapland on top of that!

It’s not about finding the best Lapland holiday.

It’s about finding the one that’s best suited to you. ❤️

🇬🇷 Skiathos — solo travellers heading back to one of the most AMAZING Greek islands. I absolutely need to go back! 😍

🇯🇲 Sandals Negril, Jamaica — an extended 60th birthday celebration in a destination that has my heart. Another one I WILL be returning to! 🌴🇯🇲

🇹🇷 Cook’s Club Adakoy — a couple who wanted a hotel with VIBES, close to everything, and this ticked all the boxes! 🍹

🇹🇷 Turkey — what started as a family holiday turned into a group holiday… and now it feels like there’s a whole plane full of them going! 🤣✈️

🇬🇷 Corfu — a couples break at a hotel that has everything, including watersports for when lying around the pool gets too relaxing! 😂

🏰✨ Disneyland Paris — a magical family adventure incoming!

🚢 Weekend cruise — two friends spotted an absolute BARGAIN and basically said… BOOK IT! 😂👏🏻

And THIS is what I love about my job.

No two holidays are the same.

Some of you want adventure. Some want complete relaxation. Some want to celebrate a huge birthday. Some want family time. Some want luxury. And some just see a bargain and think… sod it, LET’S GO! 🤣✈️

I love that you trust me to find and book these amazing trips for you, but most of all, I love that I get to share the excitement with you from booking right through to departure day. ❤️

The value of a travel agent and a very special shout out to this amazing lady. 👑

Last week I was at a family festival, no electricity and limited battery for the weekend. Now I always say if you need me, call me and I stand by that. During that weekend, airlines decided to cancel & delay flights, completely out of anyone’s control.

I had one family in Paris cancelled and diverted to Bristol the following day and another family’s flight cancelled back to Birmingham and flying into Glasgow the following evening, then Glasgow to Birmingham.

Becky at All About Travel knew I was away for the weekend and stepped in to help my family whose flights were back to Scotland so they had both of us on hand should they need us.

This situation was something we couldn’t control, the airline had made its safest and most effective choice and we had to go with it. In travel you see the lovely hotel and destination visits, but you don’t see the unavoidable things that can happen behind the scenes (every year we’re tested, this year being the UAE advised against travel as the main one)

There were families that had booked themselves and in this situation didn’t have one agent to help them, never mind 2. So please when you’re looking to book consider your local travel agent because we are honestly here for you day and night.
