Beinn Sgritheall ⛰️

Today was a group event for this solitary Munro. It was great to see returning clients Anne, Jean and Anupama. Well done ladies 🙌🏻

A very wet and misty morning but as we all arrived in Arnisdale the cloud was starting to break and shift. One of the ladies had stated she was slow on ascent and descent so I decided to do this hike taking the easier line of resistance. We ascended and descended via Bealach Rarsaidh.

A very humid and sweaty pull up through the woodland first thing this morning but once up on the hillside we broke through the low damp cloud layer into fresher air and some atmospheric views😍 a nice pace was set and we worked our way towards the summit. The girls moved great with lots of careful foot placement on the greasy rock. We were soon sat enjoying our lunch on the summit of Beinn Sgritheall, there was certainly no worries for a slow ascent or descent as everyone moved great as a team today.

Just as we started our descent the cloud layer dropped giving us a wee inversion 🫶🏻 it felt like we were in our own wee world with no others in sight.
Lots of great chat throughout the day. And definitely a very pleasant way to ascend this mountain for those who prefer a more gradual approach.

Well done ladies and thanks for joining me.

Isle of Skye weekend ⛰️🥾🌧️

The misty isle certainly lived up to its name this weekend but the forecast thankfully were manageable enough to achieve both summits. Huge well done to Stephen, Gerry, Aidan and Jamie. Megan had also joined this weekend but wasn’t feeling 100% so decided to sit both days out.

Saturday we opted for Sgurr na Banachdaich. The visibility was better than forecast in the morning but it was still a day for full goretex! The team got introduced to Gabbro & Basalt rock for the first time. Careful movement and foot placement throughout was fundamental. A quick summit turn around and moving great we were back off hill off hill for 2pm. Right in time for the heavy rain setting in!

Today was another day in full goretex as we made our way to Bruach Na Frithe. With low visibility this morning there wasn’t any views to be had so it was a hoods up , heads down kinda day. With plenty rain fall the mountains were pouring of water and several burn crossings were on our route so we took the day as it came . The lads moved well as a team and we reached the summit in no time. We didn’t hang about for long again and descended back into the coire for a quick break then the walk back out. Soaked to the bone is an understatement!

Jamie achieved his first couple Scottish mountains after Megan and himself had travelled up from down south. And Stephen had reached his 267th munro 🙌🏻
Father and son team, Gerry and Aidan also bagging some new Munro’s for their journey ⛰️

Huge thanks to the team Old Inn, Carbost for their hospitality as always 👌🏻

A great couple of days with a lovely group, thanks for joining us 🫶🏻

A video I’ve wanted to capture for a while, excuse the poor footage🙈

Have you ever heard this robotic sound when your out and about at dawn or dusk ? In my opinion this is one of natures coolest sounds 😍

This isn’t a vocal call, but a male snipe making this mechanical, humming, robotic sound with its tail feathers. The snipe will dive ( as seen in video ) and as it does it spreads its two outermost tail feathers which vibrate in the wind creating this unique sound!

Listen carefully as it dives.

Lurg Mhor & Bidein a Choire Sheasgaich ⛰️⛺️☀️

When everything aligns just perfectly for an expedition into some of our remotest munros. The perfect weather, an ideal overnight forecast and a well suited team😎 it was great to see returning clients Paul & Rachel and also meet new client Jim. Huge well done to you for some amazing efforts in some rather warm conditions.

We met at Attadale on Wednesday lunchtime. After a quick kit check and bag weight check , we set off for the long walk with our overnight packs. The weather was hot so we took it steady with lots of mini breaks and a good few big breaks to ensure we rested and were getting the fluids in. We reached Ben Dronaig bothy and had a well deserved break and a stop to cool the feet in the burns.

We had several options of where we would camp.
The original plan being close to the bothy but with such an ideal forecast a summit camp was discussed a few days prior and the team were all keen 😍 It would all depend on how everyone was feeling, the team were in top form and were eager to push on toward Loch Calavie. At the Loch another quick check in to see how everyone was feeling as we had 400m of ascent ahead of us, up to the bealach. The team again were happy to push on and a steady pace was set. We made great progress steadily pulling up with a quick water refill we had reach the bealach between our two Munros.

We set up camp, had dinner and chilled for an hour. The mention of summiting a munro for sunset was brought up, discussed and then became the plan 🙌🏻 Sunset on Lurg Mhor was spectacular, the colours, the warm evening air and getting to share this experience with the group! Paul also hit his 141 Munro ⛰️Back at camp we all settled in for the night as the alarm was set so we could catch sunrise and also make our journey back out before the heat of the day kicked in.

5.30am we were standing on the summit of our second munro, Bidein a choire Sheasgaich 😍 another exceptional experience for the group! Back at camp we packed up leaving no trace behind 🫶🏻 we were just over half way through our journey and still had an 18KM hike to get back out. Leaving camp at 7am we embraced the walk out. No easy hike , even for a landrover track but the team yet again moved with great stamina holding a strong pace! We arrived back at the cars just before 12pm 👌🏻

An epic 24 hour adventure. Well done again team and thanks for joining me it was a pleasure to help use achieve these remote and wild munros 😍⛺️🥾⛰️

The mountains are slowly showing signs of life again after a long cold winter. Lots of flora is starting to bloom 🌺

This fragile ecosystem that covers our mountains is so important as they adapt to our harsh mountain climate. Stabilising fragile soils which act as water filters soaking up all the water and slowly releasing it into the rivers below, preventing floods and drought.
This is only one example of how incredible our heathland, mosses and alpine flora are!

Next time your out hiking, make sure you take a moment and check out what’s beneath your feet 🦶

Sgurr nan Conbhairean round plus its 4 tops 😎

Today I was back out for another bank holiday hike with Mum & Daughter team , Julie & Molly 🙌🏻 well done today girls and great to see use again.

Our plan of the day was to take in the 3 eastern kintail munros and its 4 munro tops. We made great progress and time up to our first munro of the day , Carn Ghluasaid, spotting lots of ptarmigan on the way. We didn’t hang about long at the summit as well there was no views, so we continued along the ridge. Creag a Chaorainn our first top was next before a steady pull upto Sgurr nan Conbhairean our second munro of the day.

After a short break and summit dance 💃🏻 to celebrate munro 182 for the girls. We pushed on to our third Munro, Sail Chaorainn which was a short distance along the ridge to the north. We didn’t stop there though as headed further north to take in our second and third top Carn a choire Mheadhion and Tigh Mor na Seilge. We had a good break here and with Tigh Mor na Seilge having a few rocky bumps all similar heights made sure to touch them all 🤣

We retraced our steps back over to our third munro and made a reascent back up Sgurr nan Conbhairean traversing just below the summit to reach the next bealach. The girls had moved great all day even with careful foot placement over the greasy rocks!

One final ascent seen us take in our 7th summit of the day and our last top, Drochaid an Tuill Easaich 🙌🏻 the weather was a lot kind to us today with a small amount of fine drizzle and winds lighter than expected. Sadly the low clag stayed with only one fleeting view throughout!

Molly got tested on her flora and fauna throughout the day with lots to chat about, on the way back to the cars the hill path was in abundance of sundews😍 there was lots of laughs and banter with this pair. An amazing day on the hills with the girls hitting their 183rd munro 🙌🏻 only 99 more to go 🤪

See use both in a few weeks time for another adventure ⛰️⛺️
