The kitchen garden doesn’t take days off 🌿

Whatever the season throws at it (and this year it’s thrown plenty), the garden just keeps going. That’s largely down to

Broad beans harvested. Lettuces in every shade of green and red. Poppies doing something extraordinary. Baby robins in the nest, completely unbothered by all of it.

There’s something the land teaches you when you work with it long enough. That growth doesn’t always look the way you expect. That resilience isn’t about conditions being perfect, it’s about showing up anyway, roots down, whatever comes. The garden knows this. Lucy knows this. And if you spend enough time here, you start to feel it too.

This is what grows the food on your plate when you stay with us. The care that goes into this place doesn’t happen by accident - it happens because of people like Lucy, quietly getting on with it whatever the season throws at them.

And if you’d like to see it up close, kitchen garden tours may be available during your stay - just ask when you arrive.

Worth every plot twist. 🌱

If you've ever thought about running a retreat but talked yourself out of it - the cost, the risk, the not-knowing-where-to-start - this day was designed with you in mind.

On 14 June we're opening West Lexham for a full day for teachers, facilitators and wellbeing practitioners who are curious about what retreat hosting could look like.

Arrive from 7am and settle into your own practice, or join a group yoga session or guided meditation to start the day. Breakfast in the Café at 9am, then a walk around the site - the biodynamic growing garden, the standing stones, the ley lines and all the spaces you and your guests could use.

After that, time in the sauna and lake before a shared lunch. The afternoon brings a group sound healing session, an open sharing circle with the team and honest conversation about retreat hosting - costs, logistics, group sizes, all of it. Tea at 4.30 and a final round up to close.

No sales pitch. No pressure. Just a day to experience the place properly and leave with a clearer sense of what hosting here could actually look like.

Spaces are intentionally small. Register your interest via the link:

If you've ever brought a retreat to West Lexham, whether it was last year or ten years ago, whether you've been back dozens of times or just the once - this is for you.

Over the years, the teachers, facilitators and retreat leaders who've chosen to bring their communities here have helped shape West Lexham. The energy people carry in, the sessions held, the mornings that started with movement and ended around a table - all of that lives in the land here.

We're marking fifteen years this summer, and we wanted to gather some of those people back together. Not for anything formal. It’s a day that we hold space for you. Food from the kitchen garden, a walk around the site to feel earth energies, a sound bath and healing session, honest conversation.

Spaces are intentionally small, this isn't a big event, it's a gathering. If you'd like to come, register your interest via the link and complete our survey. There is discount available if you wish to stay across the weekend and give yourself extra time & space.

And if you know a teacher or facilitator who's brought their community here, tag them below. We'd love for them to see this.

A May so far in pictures 🌿🫶

Retreats and gatherings coming and going, the kitchen garden producing, the pool getting ready to open and a family of robins keeping a close eye on proceedings.

This place has a way of healing without you quite noticing it happening. The stillness, the food, the water, the people you meet and somehow don’t want to leave.

We have something to share tomorrow, keep an eye for updates 🙏

On 30 May, we are spending the day learning to read the land.

A slow walk through the West Lexham grounds with an expert forager - learning to identify what grows here, what to do with it, how it has been used for centuries and why it matters that someone still knows.

On a recent walk around the grounds our forager found sticky w**d, cow parsley, nettles, meadowsweet, wild garlic and ground ivy. Last year there were mushrooms everywhere. There is always more growing here than you expect.

This is not just identification. It is history, medicine, story and food, all found within walking distance of where you are standing.

The day moves slowly and purposefully. No experience needed. Just curiosity, comfortable shoes and a willingness to pay attention.

It ends around the table. Lunch in the Kitchen Garden Café, made from what the land gave us that morning.

West Lexham has been growing, foraging and cooking from this land for years. 30 May is a chance to understand why that matters - and to take something of it home with you.

We have some news worth sharing.

West Lexham has been named a finalist in the Norfolk Muddy Stilettos Awards 2026 - Best Wellness Break category.

To everyone who has stayed here, hosted a retreat here, eaten from the garden, swum in the lake, or simply spent a weekend being somewhere that asked nothing of you except to be present, this is yours as much as ours.

West Lexham is built around a simple belief. That the right place at the right time can restore something in a person. That nature, stillness, good food and genuine connection are not luxuries. They are what we are all quietly looking for.

Being recognised for that means a great deal to everyone here.

If West Lexham has meant something to you - we would love your vote. It takes less than a minute and it matters more than you might think.

Some gatherings need a proper home 🫶

The Village Hall at West Lexham is where groups come to be together, really together. Not in separate spaces across different floors, but under one roof, around one table, in a space that has held celebrations, retreats, workshops and family reunions for years.

Arch Cottage and Hall Cottage sit side by side, sleeping up to 16 across 7 rooms. Each one different. Each one considered - pre-loved furniture, fresh flowers from the garden, organic soap, linen you actually want to sleep in.

The open-plan hall is yours for the weekend. Long table set for the whole group. Fireplace for the evenings. Private patio for the mornings. The Kitchen Garden Café cooking breakfast and dinner from what Lucy harvested that day.

And outside - the lake, the grounds, the chalk stream, the kitchen garden. Everything West Lexham offers, shared between the people you brought with you.

Group stays. Family reunions. Hen weekends. Retreat hire. Workshops. Celebrations of all kinds.

Summer dates available. Dog friendly.

This is the one to send to the group chat.
