The Patch, Snettisham Beach

The Patch, Snettisham Beach This page is about our holiday home, The Patch at Snettisham Beach on the wild west coast of Norfolk

HOLIDAY COTTAGE TO LET at Snettisham Beach near Kings Lynn, on the
NORTH NORFOLK COAST
Created around a Victorian railway carriage and recently enlarged and renovated to a high standard, the Patch is an informal, spacious, non-smoking holiday home on the edge of The Wash. It overlooks an artificial lake, and is a few minutes walk from a quiet beach. Well away from traffic and street lights, it’

s set in its own large private garden with off road parking for two or three cars. There’s a barbecue, garden furniture, and even several bikes. The Patch has four bedrooms - two downstairs in the carriage, as is the shower room/loo. It sleeps 7-8, with room for a travel cot or two – but is still cosy enough for just a couple or a small family. A great place for children, with plenty of space to run around and play. Available all year round, it has a big woodburner, and electric heaters in all other rooms. Bed linen and towels can be supplied on request for a small extra fee. There are many attractions and places of interest in the near vicinity, including the renowned RSPB Snettisham bird reserve, the Royal Family’s own holiday home at Sandringham, the Norfolk Lavender farm, atmospheric Castle Rising, historic Kings Lynn, and the cheerful Victorian holiday town of Hunstanton. Excellent news - long may the ospreys thrive!

You heard it here first, folks! 📰

Osprey have bred in Norfolk for the first time in centuries at Ranworth Broad 🥹

We've been holding our breath, watching and waiting, and we can finally share that at least two chicks have been spotted at the nest!

A huge thank you to both Biffa Award and Essex and Suffolk Water, who have supported our work at Ranworth and helped to make the reserve a suitable environment for osprey and many other species to breed in safety.

This shows that when you build it, they do come 🙌

I got over 20 reactions on one of my posts last week! Thanks everyone for your support! 🎉

With the lake so close, we've always got ducks wandering in and out of the garden - and in the late spring there are always ducklings! It's a wonderful privilege if a bit messy, sometimes!
I took this video sitting on the door step a couple of weeks ago. (We only ever give the ducks grain, by the way, as bread is bad for them. Worth remembering!)

Here's Tim, who's just finished putting up the beautiful new sign he's made from recycled wood. So now there's no mistaking that this house is The Patch at Snettisham Beach!
We still have the last week in June, and the first two weeks in July available at the moment, if you fancy a last-minute holiday. But after that we're fully booked till the end of September!

Here comes the sun! And these little characters on the windowsill of The Patch seem to be making the most of it. We still have gaps to fill in our calendar, running up to the end of July, so if you fancy some of the finest fresh air available in Northwest Norfolk, have a look at our website, and maybe get in touch! www.the-patch.com

It's getting to that time of year again - when ducks come visiting in search of handouts, and we have to barricade the door against incontinent invaders! The 'duck board' lives behind the sofa most of the time, but comes in useful once spring starts turning into summer. It's also useful for keeping toddlers and dogs safely indoors!

I love it when people take the trouble to write a message in our visitor's book - it's always the first thing I look at when we go to The Patch at the end of a booking. It's great if we can meet our guests in person, but that's not always possible. We're getting more and more people coming back for multiple visits, which is really rewarding. We've been letting The Patch for over 12 years, so we know we're just about getting it right!

The Patch is still available for Christmas and/or New Year! I shall be disappointed if I don't get the chance to put up the decorations - it'll be the first time for about 10 years that we haven't had a booking - come on, somebody!
