Quarter of an Acre: The outside space is fully enclosed (minimum of 4 ft boundaries) with just over a quarter of an acre of private space, including enclosed parking. The stream comes and goes under tall walls. www.slaptonholidaycottage.co.uk/garden

Outside Living: Enjoy BBQs with the soothing sound of our stream as your background music. Relax in our outdoor dining area with large parasol shade, the courtyard is south-facing. Toast Marshmallows over our firepit or watch your dogs play tag or hide and seek in the fully enclosed garden. Comfortable accommodation: 4 reception rooms, including a kitchen diner, lounge with woodburner, and a separate dining room. Two highchairs are provided. Dine in: A fully-equipped kitchen where you can cook your own meals, or hire a private chef

With a quarter of an acre of fully enclosed outside space, no limit on the number of dogs and no breed/size/shape discrimination your dogs are welcome all over the house.

It’s all about our dogs!

The three dogs above are the reason we brought Rill House. Archie (GWP), Izzy in the middle and Harry always loved our holidays in South Devon. We also own Grants Cottage in Dartmouth. We used to take them walking on Slapton Sands, our local 3m long beach, and used to drive out for dinner some nights for dinner at one of the two village pubs in Slapton. Parking in Slapton is limited so we often used to park on the road by Rill House’s garden and fell in love with it then with it’s huge garden, parking, stream and stunning looking outside. We used to say we would love it as our forever house, we knew our dogs would love the garden and how close it was to the beach.

Then one day a phone call from my husband, it was on the market! The first time we walked in through the door we knew it had to be ours. It took us 2 years to finally buy it and I cannot tell you how excited we were. The plan has always been to share our much loved home with guests and their dogs until we retire (sadly for us in many years time).

We have always welcomed any number of dogs of any breed to stay in any room in the house as we know how hard it was to find anywhere that welcomed more than ‘one small well behaved dog’ in the downstairs only.

Rill House is a holiday home in every sense of the word, we have tried to make it home from home for our guests decorating it with unique art work and photographs all framed just for the house. We have stocked the kitchen with everything you would need to cook what ever takes your fancy. Egyptian cotton bedsheets, luxurious bath towels, TVs in every bedroom and the thickest carpet. Archie and Harry are sadly no longer with us but they adored their holidays at Rill House, they would spend hours playing in the garden and loved nothing more than snoozing in front of a fire in one of the village pubs. Izzy who is 9 now has a new friend Sophie whose favourite game is chasing round the garden with a fallen palm frond in her mouth (she is only 12 months now). So that is ‘our story’ of how we fell in love with a beautiful old lady.
