With summer - and with that (fingers crossed) - better weather! It's time to get your skin ready.
SPF, SPF… and Even More SPF!
When it comes to protecting your skin and maintaining a youthful, healthy complexion, there’s one skincare product that should never be skipped — SPF.
Did you know that approximately 80% of premature skin ageing is caused by exposure to UV light? Fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, and loss of elasticity can all be accelerated by sun damage, making daily sun protection one of the most important steps in any skincare routine.
Why SPF Matters
Many people only think about SPF when they’re on holiday or sunbathing, but UV rays are present all year round — even on cloudy days. Your skin is exposed to ultraviolet light every time you step outside, which is why daily protection is essential.
The face is one of the most exposed areas of the body, but it’s not the only place that needs protection. Hands, arms, décolleté, and even ankles are commonly forgotten areas that can easily show signs of sun damage over time.
Choosing the Right SPF
SPF products are available in a variety of factor levels, but experts generally recommend using no lower than SPF15, with SPF25 and above being ideal for better daily protection.
The higher the SPF, the greater the defence against harmful UV rays — helping to reduce the risk of premature ageing and maintain healthier-looking skin.
Application Is Everything
Applying SPF once in the morning isn’t always enough, especially during warmer months or when spending extended periods outdoors.
For the most effective protection:
Apply SPF generously to all exposed areas
Reapply every 2 hours when outdoors
Don’t forget commonly missed areas like the neck, chest, hands, ears, and ankles
Consistency is key. Daily use of SPF can make a huge difference to the long-term health and appearance of your skin.
Protect Your Skin Every Day
Think of SPF as your skin’s best defence. Whether you’re heading to the beach, driving to work, sitting outdoors for lunch, or simply running errands, protecting your skin from UV exposure should be part of your everyday routine.
Your future skin will thank you for it!
